If you have ever tried Colour B4

Did it wreck your hair? I'm desperate to get rid of semi perm darkest brown/ black colour after years of overuse but I'm worried this Colour B4 will ruin my hair and make it brittle?

I've used it a few times, makes your hair a bit dry but after a few shampoos it goes back to normal.

furryelephant · 25/01/2018 06:38

It didn’t ruin it but did turn it a lovely shade is bright rusty orange Grinthink it may have been slightly more dry but I didn’t cut it and it definitely improved with good conditioner.

It won't ruin your hair. May make it a little dry, but a good conditioner a few times will be fine. Does stink though.

PNGirl · 25/01/2018 10:18

It didn't ruin mine (I used a "light brown" that went black) but I did use a very intensive hair mask every day for a week and I did a semi permanent dye on top in my natural colour.

IntelligentYetIndecisive · 25/01/2018 10:24

You have to remember that a lot of permanent and semi-permanent dyes contain peroxide to 'lift' the true hair colour and give a result that's more like the picture on the box.

Repeated dyeing means your actual hair will become quite light under the dye and so when the Colour B4 is used, the bleached colour of the actual hair with come through.

It also makes the hair very dry and porous and so re-dyeing the hair becomes very problematic.

It did very little for me except make my head stink of rotten sulphurous eggs for bastarding weeks.

Seriously, the smell 🤢.

Miracle29 · 25/01/2018 10:28

My hair was coloured black for numerous years and I got bored so I used colour before i used it 3 tines but spacing it between 5 weeks. It turned slightly copper colour but It wasn't a horrible colour. I conditioned it with treatments over 2 weeks then applied a light brown and it was a lovely colour. It did make my hair slightly dry but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The one thing I did hate about it was the smell it was horrendous. Make sure you read the instructions though as it does need to be done right else you might end up patchy. Good luck

IntelligentYetIndecisive · 25/01/2018 10:32

Oh yeah. God the smell!!

Imagine the smell of overflowing sewage mixed with rotten farts.

Every time I wet my hair to wash it, it resurrected the smell.....😱😱😱😱😱😱😱

MrsRoyCropper · 25/01/2018 10:34

It won’t damage your hair, it unlocks the hair shaft to let the old colour out, leaving you with a very bright orange shade! It is a bit smelly but just rinse as much as the directions advise and it shouldn’t linger. I used a semi permanent colour on it straightaway, it was fine. Bear in mind your hair will be very porous so choose a shade lighter than you think you need as it’s likely to develop darker.

Thanks everyone. Can you recommend a good intense conditioner that I can have at the ready?

The 'normal' conditioner, the 3 minute miracle stuff and they do leave-in sprays and a miracle oil stuff.

Sort

Pricey, but there are sample sachets in Boots or Superdrug and there's usually a 3 for 2 type offer going somewhere....

IntelligentYetIndecisive · 25/01/2018 10:55

Sorry, Aussie is the brand name

RedPandaMama · 25/01/2018 11:00

I used it on my hair. Had been dyeing it a dark purple colour for 3 years and it got it back to my natural colour (strawberry blonde) right away! It did have a slight smell though so I just piled on some tresemme conditioner and left it for an hour or so then washed out. All fine!

Miracle29 · 25/01/2018 11:27

I agree the Aussie conditioner is fab and smells lovely
