Forget username, that’s a red herring to make me unidentifiable. How old do you think I am based on my neck and please, more importantly, what on earth can I do about this?

Off to find oil and cream...

I’ve just taken a photo of mine Shock

I won’t be doing that again Grin

Ofthread · 23/01/2018 23:17

Yes, try rosehip oil from the ordinary and a retinoid at night, though if you do that you are meant to use a sunscreen during the day.

Frankiewears · 24/01/2018 09:56

I would say accept you are getting older and work around it.

Neckerchief, scarves and distracting necklaces if you feel it would distract and help. Rollnecks too.

Feawen · 24/01/2018 10:06

I've tended to get creases on my neck as long as I can remember, if I spend any length of time hunched over or looking down. Easy to do if you're looking at a phone, reading, bent over some paperwork, etc.

I guess I'm saying that improving your posture might help, but that yours looks like a perfectly good neck to me!

lovemylover · 24/01/2018 10:37

45? If you are overweight maybe losing some might help, my daughter had a neck similiar to yours, she went to see a plastic surgeon, he said all she needed to do was lose some weight,
Sorry if 45 is too old,

neveradullmoment99 · 24/01/2018 11:04

Ofthread when I was 40, my neck was like that. Sadly the change came about when I was 46. It went downhill from then on!!!

neveradullmoment99 · 24/01/2018 11:10

Its excess skin. Losing weight will only make it worse. Facial exercises are your best bet.

Rollerbird · 24/01/2018 11:32

So how Old is your neck OP?

QueenThisTime · 24/01/2018 11:37

OP it's not gross, that's harsh! It has some lines but nothing like as much as I expected from the thread title.

I use a superdrug own brand, vitamin E night cream on neck and chest area every night and it seems to help preserve my almost-50 neck – I don't think anything expensive will have a miraculous effect, but if you're currently using nothing at all, then I'd start with a nice night cream.

I second others who say work with your clothing too – collars, scarves, chunky necklaces - experiment and see what suits you and makes you feel confident. I'm 99% sure no one else will be looking at your neck anyway, but it's about feeling good in yourself and not feeling self-conscious.

Had to laugh at sofabitch's link – I was expecting it to be a tap you put on your wrinkle to deliver some lovely treatment... nope it's just taping the back of your neck together to hoik it all round to the back! Might as well just use a bulldog clip :)

WanderingTrolley1 · 24/01/2018 11:40

I’d guess mid-late 50s.

Aridane · 24/01/2018 12:16

I also agree that weight loss might help

vitaminC · 24/01/2018 12:21

I would say late 50s-early 60s, or younger but recently lost a huge amount of weight.
If it's the latter, it may improve with time (and exercise). If not and it's just the natural ageing process, I don't know of any specific product that would help, I'm afraid.

halfwitpicker · 24/01/2018 13:15

Turtle necks?

LadyOfTheCanyon · 24/01/2018 13:17

Creams won't help. They just won't. They might make the skin look better ( though it looks like you have beautiful skin as it is) but the only thing that will get rid of that much excess skin is surgery. Sorry.
I think it is genetic. I'm 47 and my face is starting to disappear into my neck. Like my mum's and her mum's before her.
Embrace the scarves.

sportyfool · 24/01/2018 13:21

55 ? Mine doesn't look like that at 44.. have you lost lots of weight ?

EnidButton · 24/01/2018 14:34

Do people not read threads anymore? The OP has said how old she is.

BigbreastsBiggerbeard · 24/01/2018 14:39

Have you ever lost a lot of weight? That can sometimes affect your neck, causing sagginess, etc. I have lots of crepeyness (can't spell) and a double chin. I'm 48.

neveradullmoment99 · 24/01/2018 14:51

Do people not read threads anymore? The OP has said how old she is.

Where? I cant see where she says it?

Aridane · 24/01/2018 15:01

OP - you cannot start a thread asking this question and then not disclose your age! I guess you were born in 1976 on the basis of your user name

Studyinghell · 24/01/2018 15:08

Prevention not a cure is the thing here, once it’s gone, it’s gone. And a topical cream will not sort it :(
I would suggest a thread lift, under jaw, very little simple op, then factor 50 every single day :)

BigbreastsBiggerbeard · 24/01/2018 15:45

The OP has said that she has a FEW YEARS TO GO UNTIL SHE IS FORTY Grin

Aridane · 24/01/2018 16:56

I must RTFT better in future Grin !!

SukiTheDog · 24/01/2018 17:49

Nice scarves? Some exercises? Failing that I don’t think creams do much, no matter the claims they make. Dove Skin So Soft came tops in moisturisation on that BBC thing, recently.

Turquoise123 · 24/01/2018 17:51

Have to say I don't really look at people's necks - yours looks fine .

I think the only thing that's relevant for skin is SPF 50+ every day ?
