Was thinking Bare Minerals, (light coverage & easy application) but it’s ££🙈. Any other suggestions? Don’t want it to to be Matte/full cover....

How old is she?

Bingbongband · 23/01/2018 21:52

Bare minerals has all sorts of nasties in it. Their brushes malt and scratch too.

If you want a mineral foundation try Lily lilo. They do little sample pots so you can get tge right colour too.

Please encourage her to let her freckles show though. She can wear foundation without hiding them. :)

www.lilylolo.co.uk
Lily lolo even. Hmm

thUnderdog · 23/01/2018 21:53

Lily Lolo is similar to Bare Minerals and very nice to use and has a very pale shade for redheads (porcelain). Actually, several pale shades but I found this palest.

Oops, cross post

Range of price points here and some set powder mineral foundations which may be easier.

Including a tester size: www.lovelula.com/products/phb-ethical-beauty-mini-pressed-mineral-foundation-spf-30-caramel-3g (possibly not this shade though! 😁)

Pollaidh · 23/01/2018 22:02

Bare Minerals tinted gel or something

No 7 light BB cream lets the skin show through and is good on really pale (red head type) skin.

Duckstar · 23/01/2018 22:05

Fellow red here. After much searching I swear by Bobbi Brown. They have a range of foundations depending on how much coverage your daughter needs.

yrhengi · 23/01/2018 23:10

Bourjois CC creme is very good or my new favourite, The Ordinary serum foundation, is feathery light but still 'there' coverage and only £5.90.

Thk you all so much! She’s only 12 😖. Is mad about make up, though & does now have to wear it for dancing competitions. Needless to say she’s delighted! I’d much rather she gets it right now, and doesn’t mess with her skin. We’ve tried a few, but the colours are never quite right, so I’ll try a few of these.

Maybe just a tinted moisturiser with sun screen. That’s what I use anyway.

Pinkywoo · 24/01/2018 19:01

I'm very pale and blonde, and even the lightest bare minerals is too dark on me, I use the palest lily lolo shade which is perfect.

NewYearNiki · 24/01/2018 19:09

Say no.

A 12 yo doesn't need foundation.

Fekko · 24/01/2018 19:20

But a sunscreen would be beneficial if she has fair skin...

paperandpaint · 24/01/2018 19:23

NARS is great for pale skin. My DD (17) has very pale skin and they have lots of finishes. I think it’s shocking though that there is an expectation that a 12 year old has to wear foundation for dancing - not aimed at you OP but at the organisers of such dance competitions.

As an aside - as long as you cleanse it off properly it’s not going to mess with her skin so I wouldn’t worry too much, it’s not like she’s wearing it all day every day.

Xennialish · 24/01/2018 19:25

I use lily lilo and was actually using a shade too pale for me at first, didn’t think that existed! The palest ones don’t come in the light sample set so best to buy individual sample pots. Skin has to be really well primed/ not flaky but easier for a teen than me I am sure. I use shy beam by benefit too.

TheCaptainsCat · 24/01/2018 19:27

Bobbi brown tinted moisturiser in the palest shade - can't remember name off the top of my head - I use this and I'm PALE! Also light coverage so won't cover up all her freckles, which I think would be a shame to do, and looks nice and natural, she is quite young!

It contains an SPF, but not high enough to be relied on alone.

Fekko · 24/01/2018 19:30

Why would you want to cover freckles? Oh no.

Unicorn81 · 24/01/2018 20:27

I used naturals from boots when i was a teenager, the tinted moisturiser. Only a few pounds.i also have a laura geller balance and brighten in porcelain if you want it. Tried it once but i prefer Tarte or Bary M.

TQBD · 25/01/2018 06:36

I’m pale with (dyed) red hair and a few freckles - I used to use MAC NC15 but found it too heavy and that B.B. cream was too shiny. Switched to the ordinary silicone foundation which is super light and not massive full coverage and really love it. It’s super cheap as well (£5-6)

HotelEuphoria · 25/01/2018 06:51

Seriously as a 51 year old ginger you do not have to look hard or spend £££££ getting a foundation to match. Boots or Superdrug, less than a tenner will give you a number of options, ask an assistant for help.
