Face cream for sensitive skin

Hi,

I’m looking for some reasonably (cheap) recommendations.

My face has recently decided it is sensitive and my face creams are making me blotchy and itchy. I’m currently using nothing and my skins really dry. I’ve decided the crocodile look isn’t really me!

I don’t want to spend a fortune particularly until I know a new product is not going to irritate my skin further.

Any recommendations?

I feel your pain. I now avoid anything with added fragrance or sunscreens. The following all work well for me (unfortunately you'll have to order online unless you can get to the Ordinary store in Covent Garden or can find a local stockist for Moogoo:

moogooskincare.co.uk/dry-skin/soothing-msm-cream.html (get the bigger size - much better value)

or a combination of
theordinary.com/product/rdn-hyaluronic-acid-2pct-b5-30ml?redir=1 and theordinary.com/product/rdn-100pct-plant-derived-squalane-30ml?redir=1 (this makes my skin so soft)

What are you cleansing with? I'd use something really plain like simple lotion or superdrug simply pure lotion

You have my sympathy. My skin is very, very reactive, and although my symptoms are different (I tend to break out), my skin is also quite dry, so I thought it was worth sharing my routine - such as it is.

I cleanse with Cetaphil (I use it as a rinse off, as I don't feel clean otherwise - but you can also use tissue/cotton wool if you prefer), and then I apply Avene Hydrance Optimale UV riche. And that's it. My skin is currently the best it has been in about 20 years.

I've been using the Avene moisturiser for a while, and I really love it. It comes in a lighter formulation too, and you can also get it without sunscreen. It isn't super-cheap, but neither is it too pricy compared to premium brands - about £14 a tube, and usually on offer somewhere to I almost never pay full price.

But, the game-changer for me has been the Cetaphil. It isn't particularly glamorous, but my skin absolutely loves it, and it as about as non-reactive as you can possibly get. And (bonus) it is cheap as chips.

Thank you both so much for your replies. I hotfooted it to the shops at lunchtime and now have the Cetaphil cleanser and Avene Hydrance Optimal which I have since slathered on my croc face and am hoping for the best.

I will put in an online order soon too and then can determine what is best for me.

Thanks again

I am very sensitive & can use the La Roche Poway Toleraine the Soothing & Protective one. The other Toleraine & the Ultra one I reacted too. There is no SPF in it but they do an SPF that can go over the top of moisturiser.

Just to add if you email Moogoo they are good about sending samples (or you could try their FB page)

I've used tons of different creams and always come back to Nivea:

Aveeno cream or lotion are both amazing for my dry and sensitive skin (I have tendency to get eczema). Also used Avene and LRP, both very good but Aveeno wins for me.

Aveeno- my DD has very sensitive skin she had red painful patches at the side of her mouth. Too painful to put concealer on but she was very concious of them.
I had to buy something instore to use immediately.
In despairation I bought her Aveeno and it worked brilliantly
