Lines around mouth

I have developed some pretty deep lines at the sides of my mouth, and I think they make me look older than I am.
I’ve attached a photo taken under a strong light (although you can clearly see them even in softer light)

Are fillers the only option, do you think? (I’m trying to resist the temptation to go down this route).

Or is there anything less major that might make a difference?

Thank you Smile (

Mine have become really deep. It's really annoying, because I have very few wrinkles on the rest of my face, no crows feet, frown lines or forehead lines, but if you only see my mouth area, you'd think I was an old lady. I'm 54, I'm not old yet!

So, I'd be interested in any answers too.

Yes me too and what I especially don't like is it's much more pronounced on one side than the other! And they make me look like my mum, which I'm not happy about.

I can't imagine having fillers, so I'm just trying to learn to live with it. My best tips are drinking lots of water, getting enough sleep, and keeping well exfoliated - they look better when I manage to keep on top of that.

I've just started using RetinA. Hot and Flashy has done a three year update on her results and the lines have improved. It's not a quick fix solution.

I’m developing these too, I used to use retin-A, but stopped due to pregnancy. I’m thinking of spot treating this area with retin-A. Also, try facial exercises to pull the cheek muscles up, as if I understand it correctly it’s the sagging cheeks that partly cause nose to mouth lines.

watching and listening with interest!!!!!!

what are your recommendations for Retinol-A creams? (cheap please!)

ZaraW · 23/01/2018 16:11

mowglick I've been doing Eva Fraser face exercises for the last three years but it hasn't improved the lines around my mouth. I'm mid 40s so no sagging yet but as jowls run in the family I want to try everything to stop them which may be a bit deluded.

Volbella (that's its name in the USA, anyway, it's the company that makes Botox) is an injectable containing hyaluronic acid and it works really well. I've had it done a couple of times in my "smokers lines" around the lips and was happy with the results. Lasts a few months (I think 3 ish) so not too scary if you don't like it.

(Also had a bit in the "C lines" around the sides of the lips that you're concerned about, worked well for that too.)

Re. Retin A, can you get that non-prescription in the Uk? I've bought it here in the USA with a prescription (you can't buy it over the counter) from a licensed aesthetician, cheapest price I could find was about $90.

No suggestions Eppia but just wanted to say that the bit of you that I can see is beautiful!

GumsnNoses · 23/01/2018 17:21

Mine are similar to yours... I don't have an answer for you, but watching with interest!

lovemylover · 23/01/2018 20:49

A bit of filler will get rid of those lines, ,and the effect is immediate, and lasts long time
