Hi can anyone advise what good running shoes there are out there for wide-ish feet that are supportive and comfy? Thanks

nike pegasus - I have wide trotters but just wear the regular width. They do do wide fittings too. Usually buy em in the sale.

Also running shops like Runners Need will fit you shoes to suit your feet and running style. Worth a bash although i was too frightened of treadmills to go for about 2 years

Thank you!!

Agree with suggestion to go to a specialist shop and test some out - if you don't want to pay full price then you could always look for last season's version in the sale online - often not much changes apart from the colour!

How cheap? I swear by Brooks. I have wide feet (G fitting) and they are perfect for me. They come in at about £100. I had ASICS before but they gave me awful blisters. I do second getting to a proper running shop for assessment. I had such good advice, it really improved my comfort and my stride to get the right trainers.

I have Brooks too. Can't remember where I got them but I did the whole 'last season end of line' thing so got them half price. They are perhaps not the most attractive of trims, hence why in the sale but ugly neon trim is not the worst sight when I'm out running.

Also have wide feet and love my brooks. I worked out which fit me then just keep buying in the sale.

When I started running I had a pair of mizunos which were fine. I didn't know if I was going to keep with it, so I didn't want to spend too much initially.

Brooks! Before that I used to wear mens acics (I have fairly large feet), finally finding an actual ladies pair that were wide enough felt rather good.

As said already, buying from a specialist running place is good, I've always had a gait analysis on the running machine in the shop.

I need to check out Brooks.

Do you all just get a standard fitting in them? Or particular model?

FaithEverPresent · 21/01/2018 13:12

I think I have the GTS 15 at the moment. I haven’t replaced mine for about 2 years though because I haven’t run much due to ill health. However you really need to try them. I do strongly suggest going to a running shop if you can? Take your trainers. They will assess you running on a tread mill, film it and show you. I didn’t realise I over-pronate which is why I was getting blisters. They put me in the Brooks trainers and you could see the design stopped that happening.

Nike have an extra 25% off sale online at the moment. Use Quidco too.

LockedOutOfMN · 21/01/2018 14:17

I've got wide fit and find Asics and Nike the most comfortable (I also like the soles).

You can try the men's shoes in your size to see if they're wider too.

New Balance. Cost me about £40 four years ago. They are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn. I’ve got wide feet, too, with the added delight of bunions. These are the only shoes that didn’t give me foot pain. Feels like walking on clouds.
They’ve lasted well, too. Except for a couple of small tears on the fabric (which could’ve been avoided if I was careful), the shoe is still as good as new.

BikeRunSki · 21/01/2018 14:29

New Balance do a standard and regular fit in most of there styles, but I find the standard fit wide enough for me anyway and I have wide feet.

I would go to s running shop though a few get fitted. All running shoes are not equal.

HoneyDragon · 21/01/2018 14:31

I’m narrow of foot and love Asics, my fellow running wide footed friends all swear by Brooks, like pp. TK Max often have Brooks in at great prices so you can try them on and if they aren’t perfect for you a few months later you’ve not spent a fortune.
