Filler consultation...eek!

I posted a while ago about tear trough fillers and have a consultation with a doctor at Dr Tracey Mountford's clinic on Monday. I'm not having the procedure done on the same day, just a chat, and I am feeling a mixture of weirded out that I'm even considering it and also excited that maybe l will get it done (and see an improvement!)

My question is what questions should I be asking my doctor? I've jotted a few down but don't want to miss anything out. Thanks ladies x

I'm thinking of this treatment. How was the consultation?

Hi MyOtherNameIsBetter it was really good thanks. I went with a huge list of questions which the doctor was very happy to answer and feel a lot more informed now. Consultation was £150. She also discussed other options such as prescription cream to tackle dark pigmentation under my eyes so I have a lot to think about and am going to mull it over for a few days before I decide what to do.

Ooh - is there really a cream that will tackle under eye circles?

ohbigdaddio · 23/01/2018 12:46

I think it depends on each individual case Aridane. My doctor said I have pigmentation which could be lightened using a cream (on private prescription). lt's about £70. I'm also considering fillers as my tear troughs are such noticeable hollows, so tackling them would be a 2 pronged attack!

I've just had the tear trough fillers - which is helping - but of course the shadows remain pronounced!

ohbigdaddio · 23/01/2018 21:34

Are you pleased with them Aridane and how was the experience? Any pain?

Re: prescription cream to tackle dark pigmentation under eyes. Don’t be on 4% hydroquinone too long, tolerance problems, rebound problems. As soon as the hydroquinone has done the job and bleached, transfer on to brightening system such as Obagi NuDerm FX with arbutin or ZO (Zein Obagi) Brightenex system for long term control.

ohbig - yes, I'm please with them. The hollows are less pronouced / cadaverous but not eliminated. I've copied and pasted below a post I put on another thread last Thursday:

"Had tear trough fillers yesterday.

A numbing cream was put on beforehand. Right eye done first - surprisingly painless, apparently fewer nerve endings there.

It’s not done in the actual under eye area but around the orbital (?) bone. She examined the area first and drew on it for where to inject.

For the left eye, the bit nearer my nose was painful. So she used a canula instead in the upper cheek area to insert the filler. No pain then.

I kept very still as I was mildly paranoid about being jabbed in my eyes.

Apparently tear trough fillers aren’t like ‘regular’ fillers with an immediate effect - instead little drops are inserted which over the next couple of weeks will move to the hollows (fingers crossed). Though already they are somewhat less pronounced.

No bruising , swelling or discomfort.

Still thrilled with cheek fillers. Can’t stop looking at my cheekbones / profile and how less droopy I look!"

Thanks NocturneGMajor sounds like you know your stuff. I don't have any prescription cream yet so no idea what my doctor would prescribe me. Going back to discuss with her. Are there bad side effects with these creams?

Aridane that sounds good and what I want – an improvement but nothing crazily unrealistic! It is natural to have a dip under the eyes (though mine are deep, deep troughs!). Will look for the rest of your post to read with interest!
