Advice on becoming a beauty therapist

I really want to study beauty therapy but I'm a bit worried that I'm not glamorous enough. Does that sound stupid???? I love skin care and helping people and I'm well groomed and polite and willing to learn but is that enough????

I'm worried about the makeup aspect of it - I can do my own but only quite basic. Nothing like those amazing blended eye shadow looks on youtube. It's not a huge part of the course and I plan to specialise in massage and facials etc. I don't want to be a makeup artist as such but still excited to learn.

Sorry to ramble, can someone be brutally honest or give advice if I should study or keep it as a hobby???? Thanks so much

My friends DD did a two year course at Chichester. She’s not stunning to look at but she is a lovely person. Most clients want expertise not model looks.

However you may well find you cannot pick and choose what you do in your job so massaging men could be part of it as well as facials! Be realistic about what you will have to do before you can specialise.

My friend’s DD now trains Beauty therapists in using new products. The hands on job lost it’s appeal!

Of course it's enough. I'm not at all glamorous but being well groomed, polite and friendly is necessary.

After all you're selling a service and you are basically the advertisement for that service. There's no need to be glamorous as long as your well presented, of course if you specialised in nail art and glamorous make up then you may want to tailor your look to suit the service you offer.
