What do you do to your eyebrows?

I have typically overplucked eyebrows and, as I'm late 50's, they are starting to lose shape a bit. So was just wondering, which is better, waxing or threading? I had them waxed and tinted during the summer and liked how they looked but I thought the waxing was a bit harsh on my skin, as the skin has gone a little less taut than it used to be. So is threading gentler on the skin?

Threading is not gentler, same principle, removing hair from the roots but my preferred method.

If you are losing shape/hair, You may be interested in microblading,

OlennasWimple · 19/01/2018 00:55

What exactly is microblading?

I've got naturally thin eyebrows (beauticians tut about over-plucking, but all the women in my family have the same thin arches) but now I'm in my 40s I'm wondering if there's something I could / should be doing to tidy them up more, other than the very occasional waxing and maintenance plucking

Tstar27 · 22/01/2018 08:58

Microblading is a process where they draw on the desired eyebrow shape then go over it with blades and pigment in your skin so it looks like individual hair to form the desired shape. A semi permanent tattoo. Google before and after pictures, it has great results and a lot if women who have thin eyebrows go for this option.

Ollivander84 · 23/01/2018 11:21

I have mine done with digital machine method. Like a tattoo but one needle, I love them!

murphys · 23/01/2018 11:28

I have mine threaded. Just seems to have a better shape than waxing. And threading doesn't hurt for me at all, but waxing does. And I am all red after waxing, but not at all when threading.

I tint my own though.

PETRONELLAS · 23/01/2018 11:45

What tint do you use? Does it stain your skin? I love the effect when I’ve had it done. HD brows involve threading and waxing. Perhaps get advise from a brow person on growing the shape.

murphys · 23/01/2018 12:57

I am not in UK, so I am not sure if you get the same brand, I use dark brown by Eyelure.

RoseWhiteTips · 23/01/2018 13:29

Microblading makes people look like aliens. Thin arched eyebrows are feminine.

KellyMarieTunstall2 · 23/01/2018 17:42

I tint mine so they look thicker and more defined, and just pluck the stragglers. I use eyelure.

Kenworthington · 23/01/2018 17:49

Cover them up with my fringe! I dread to think what’s going on

Kenworthington · 23/01/2018 17:50

Ffs
Under there and I ain’t about to look!

Oldraver · 23/01/2018 18:06

Nothing and never have done much. Just plucked the odd stray hair. If you saw them you would assume they are overplucked...but that's not the case.

PCOS has made me hairy-er in places but generally I don't have much, very little underarm hair etc

CointreauVersial · 23/01/2018 18:15

I just tidy up the stragglers to keep the shape nice, and sometimes treat myself to threading. I always feel waxing is a bit of a blunt instrument, and I'd worry they'd take too much off.

Luckily, although I'm in my 50s, I never really touched them in my youth, so they're still in good shape.

Peeetle · 23/01/2018 18:18

There are some hideous examples of microblading out there if you google.

CharlieBoo · 23/01/2018 18:33

Some microblading is just awful.. thick lines and fake hair strokes..

I like tinting and threading.. if you’re new to it go to your local benefit brow bar in Debenhams John Lewis etc .. it’s more expensive but they’re normally very good...

GingerRogers84 · 23/01/2018 18:48

There's a cool Maybelline product that you paint on and let dry before peeling it off. It tints the skin and the hair so you can Get a shape you like. It looks alarming when on but looks really good once you peel it off. Also mine lasts about three days.

Waxing I think is harsher as it sticks to the skin and hair but threading just rolls over the skin and plucks the hair. I just use tweezers to get the odd one that falls out of line.

holasoydora · 23/01/2018 18:53

I have mine tinted and tidied up with tweezers every month by a lovely person at their home. It is literally the only thing I do beauty wise but I have blonde eyelashes naturally so it makes a big difference and makes me feel good.

DuckOffAutocorrectYouShiv · 23/01/2018 18:55

I pluck mine, sparingly. I tint every now and again if the greys are taking over. I use Refectocil tints, much better than the eyelure ones I tried. Richer, more even colour, andlonger lasting tint.

DuckOffAutocorrectYouShiv · 23/01/2018 18:57

I also tint my own eyelashes. I use refectocil light brown on brows and a mix of blue black & true black on lashes. I probably do my lashes every 3 weeks and brows once a months.

Titsywoo · 23/01/2018 19:00

Nothing. I had them waxed a few times in my 20's but I don't think that has done the damage that overtweezing has done to a lot of people I know. I do have patchy brows so I fill them in with eyeshadow but would love to get something permanent (but too nervous of something going wrong to actually do it!).

EggsonHeads · 23/01/2018 19:03

@GingerRogers84 wouldn't that pull out the hairs when you peel it off? I have rather odd eyebrows that look like they could benefit from a bit of colouring in. What is the product called exactly? How dark does it tint the skin?

Ratinthehat · 23/01/2018 19:09

I've never done anything to them. Not even plucked them.

Allthepinkunicorns · 23/01/2018 21:12

I pluck the stray hairs and fill in any patches with eyeshadow which is the same colour as my eyebrows and then I also set them in place with some clear eyebrow gel.

Judydreamsofhorses · 23/01/2018 22:35

Threaded once a fortnight, tint them at home every few weeks, and do my lashes at the same time.

NC4now · 23/01/2018 22:44

If you have them tinted, do you still use eyebrow pencil / makeup?
