So I’ve turned thirty, have a 16 month old who thinks sleeping through the night is a funny joke, and we’ve moved house like four times since he was born ending up in Ireland for good this Xmas... so! I have aged and we are getting married next year and I need desperate help!!
Please hit me with your anti ageing regimes, best creams and potions and lotions of all makes and prices!
I need something quite easy and quick. I know that’s a long shot but... help me wise ladies! Grin

How have you aged? What is making you look older? Hair, skin, clothes, weight?

sycamore54321 · 18/01/2018 21:42

SPF every day (yes, even in Ireland!). Eating tons of vegetables and salad. Probably not the answer for your wedding but putting on a little weight always helps people's faces look younger. I've recently started a night cream with AHA/BHA, think it's a Loreal one, nothing fancy, but it does seem to help with "early signs of ageing".

Beyond that, I have no magic answers. I'll be reading to see the quick fixes.

mamamalt · 18/01/2018 21:48

Sorry @Bluntness100 I should have said. I was carried away on the ramble! It’s my skin.. it’s my wrinkles! Forehead and eyes mainly v noticeable now!

And thank you @sycamore54321 !! I do wear the sun screen. Drink lots of water but probably need to bulk up on the old veggies!

You might find that now you've settled the signs of stress your skin might be showing settles anyway.

barefoofdoctor · 18/01/2018 22:44

Retinol and all the acids. I looked like a bag of smashed crabs a year or 2 after much stressful drama/non sleeping baby then thanks to good ole Mumsnet discovered the wonders of The Acids. (Try The Ordinary as a starting point).

Delatron · 18/01/2018 22:57

SPF every day. Retinol.

zeddybrek · 18/01/2018 23:20

Everything barefoofdoctor says. Retinol and acids all the way. I was in a similar situation to yours and I can't believe the difference it has made. You have to experiment to see what works best but worth putting in the effort.

SnowGoArea · 18/01/2018 23:27

Heard something on the radio last week that said women who did a few mins of face yoga every day looked on average 5 years younger after 3 months. No idea how they quantified looking 5 years younger, but may be worth a shot?! It came with a warning of not overdoing it though, as that in itself can cause wrinkles Grin

Ultimately though I would encourage you to go with deciding not to mind. Ageing is a bit of a sinking ship and not worth the emotional energy of caring.

Nip+Fab hyaluronic acid serum from Superdrug and Nip+Fab exfoliating pads. Inexpensive but brightens and plumps the skin.

Littlelambpeep · 18/01/2018 23:38

At 16 months I would ignore the night waking (if you can bear it). I did at around 14 - 15 months and only took a few nights. Had a newborn though so had to.

VeggieforJan · 19/01/2018 10:59

Do you have a fringe? Hides forehead wrinkles, and relatively cheap solution!

mamamalt · 19/01/2018 16:19

@VeggieforJan I have curly hair! And postpartum fly always that would probably look ridiculous. Wish I could rock a cool fringe!

mamamalt · 19/01/2018 16:21

Thanks for the tips! I have the nip fab pads and have just finished the ordinary Hy acid! So will restock/ask nicely for my birthday!
I also have some acne scars which I was wondering about if anyone has anything which works on those? 😂 making myself sound like a right looker!

Retin A. really the only thing scientifically shown to help minimize and prevent more wrinkles in a dramatic way, you need a script because it's powerful.
Products with ceramides, hyaluronic acid, and peptides. You don't need to spend a fortune, cerave is a great line.
Add collagen and good fat to your diet as well as veggies.
Consider fillers

But unless you start getting more sleep,it's just slapping a bandaid on the problem

mamamalt · 19/01/2018 16:22

And @SnowGoArea thank you. I am trying not to mind but I just can’t bear the thought of having wedding pictures when all I can see are my wrinkles... so bloody vain I know!

CountFosco · 19/01/2018 17:11

Probably not the answer for your wedding but putting on a little weight always helps people's faces look younger.

Considering the OP is 30 I think it's a bit young to choose face over body, she probably stills look babyfaced to those of us old enough to be her mother.

OP you need sleep, a good diet, plenty exercise, no smoking, not much alcohol and a healthy body weight. Wrinkles don't make you look old, especially the kind you'll have at 30. Concentrate on a good haircut and modern clothes, don't waste your money on snake oil.

peachypips · 19/01/2018 17:13

Do you smoke? All my friends that do have far more wrinkles than anyone else!

rightknockered · 19/01/2018 17:39

At 30 wrinkles come when you're tired and often disappear with a bit of sleep and upping fluid intake. Eat a diet rich in good fats. Cut back on sugar and alcohol.
And don't put on weight, it is definitely ageing.
