Why can't I find a swimsuit that doesn't cost the earth but still stops my boobs touching my knees?

I need a new swimsuit. I am a size 16/18, h cup boobs. I wanted something that covers and supports but is also affordable for me so less than £30 really. I don't even need proper cups that fit, I am happy with a shelf elastic thing inside but it does need to be decent.

I also want boy style legs if that makes sense to cover my hairy inner thighs.

Seems like I am asking for the moon on a stick....

Have you tried Lands End or Bravissimo?

In my experience they don't exist! I take a very large cup size as well, (bigger than you), and the non-bra ones aren't wide enough over the boobs, so they escape out the side. Having said that, if you want to give the boy short ones a try, Sports Direct have them for about a tenner, up to size 20. You can also get them from Amazon, but usually not quite as cheap and odd sizing. But I'm bitter as I've just had to drop £60 on a plain black bra-swimsuit which I dont even like and is slightly too baggy round the bum.

If I were you I'd buy a tankini top in your bra size and then buy some cheep swim shorts. Good tankini's cost about £28. Look at Pour Moi, triumph, etc or just google Tankini's in 38h (or whatever your size is)

I’m not as blessed in the boob department as you, but I’m very pleased with my triumph swimsuit- it’s the first one I’ve ever had that fits like a bra and gives some support. It’s maybe higher leg than you’re after, but it’s worth looking at their selection.

LikeSilver · 18/01/2018 17:55

Have you tried For Luna? They have low legs and I’ve seen several larger breasted models on their Instagram, they look pretty supportive.

Kittykatmacbill · 18/01/2018 18:02

I am a 16 hh cup (go me Hmm) and I find white stuff tankinis, quite good and if you pick carefully boycut shorts too. Might be only be just above your budget? If you pick a 20% off day...

Depending how much you swim you might want to think about chlorine resistance. I bought a Speedo swimsuit in May last year (for about £60!) and the lycra has already gone. Admittedly I swim several times a week but my Zoggs swimsuit is still going strong and I've had it a couple of years. My next swimsuit will be Zoggs (or possibly the same brand as the DDs since their swimsuits last really well as well).

MurielsBottom · 18/01/2018 18:58

Some good ideas for me to look at.

I've looked at the boy leg costume in sports direct and there was no shelf of any kind in them.

I have taken up swimming as a hobby/get fit project and my current suit is dying from the chlorine after a couple of years sporadic use and four weeks regular use.

I swear by this one. It has underwire so gives a good support. Don't be fooled by the price it has brilliant stomach support with a layer underneath the Ruched part. I swim a mile 5 days a week. There are different colours which don't have the Ruched part.

Why can't I find a swimsuit that doesn't cost the earth but still stops my boobs touching my knees?

Can you link to that PorklessPie for me please. There seemed to be so many on amazon I wasn't sure which is the right one.

Thanks.

Tesco have fab swimwear , my local one has it out already ! I have a lovely black one just like a miracle suit which was around £20 !

plentyofshoes · 23/01/2018 20:48

I second Tesco. I got a red one in the sale for just under £10 and it is great. Holds up and in which helps.

Frouby · 23/01/2018 20:53

I bought a brilliant Freya tankini last year. It has really good support (am a floppy 36hh) and I uae ir for DS swimming lessons. It's a sporty one rather than a beachy one iyswim. Was about £20 for the top and £10 for the briefs but I tend to wear it with a pair of black boy shorts that were £4 in the next sale.

Theimpossiblegirl · 23/01/2018 20:54

You can't go wrong with Asda swimsuits for bigger busts. They are also pretty good at holding in a tummy and look lovely on- a classic cut.

Lots of choice too

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 23/01/2018 20:54

Swimwear 365. I was sceptical and specific about what i wantes. I ordered a few and amazingly kept 2. X

PorklessPie · 23/01/2018 20:55

I have no idea how to link sorry. But if you type in the description it will come up Smile

sanityisamyth · 23/01/2018 21:52

34J here and got a brilliant tankini from Bravissimo. Pricey but worth it.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 23/01/2018 22:30

I can’t link but my speedo one is amamzing and uplifting . I had to buy a spare recently and my god I missed it (I am an FF)

Worth every penny (pounds actually) !!

DianaT1969 · 23/01/2018 23:17

I suggest you buy the Elomi swim bra. Then wear it under any cheap costume. Scaffolding in swimwear for H cup boobs costs manufacturer'sin time and materials as well as the whole problem of retailers holding stock of multiple sizes of the same garment. It is going to be passed on....

SparklyLights · 24/01/2018 00:22

Check out Figleaves, they have lots of brands and styles for supporting boobs. You might be looking at £45 mark though rather than £30 but it'll be worth the extra investment if you love it and it lasts.
