So... I started early November. Did my research and recommendations etc chose a very good local clinic. I had to have a top up early December as my eyebrows felt low (if that makes sense) and had to pop in for a top up in forehead again yesterday. (Didn’t do my 11s which are coming back with a vengeance) Feeling a teeny bit of pressure as being advised fillers are the route.. I aniticipated mid feb being my next full face appt but as it stands I have had jabs every month.. is the right? Concerned that the amounts needed for me are not yet established, before I even come consider filler... I have a small 5p sized lump and can see a bruise on my forehead from yesterday’s top up.. and advice?
Thank you x

Every month sounds a lot of top ups, are you paying for all these? or are they free top ups, a small bruise can be expected
I cant understand why the top ups are so close together,as the botox wont have had a chance to show if its working or not
I had botox last week and i now have 2 black eyes and a bruised nose,
When you had yours did the person inject you on your nose, not the soft bit between eyebrows but lower down, and mine started with a small lump, which has gone down but now bruised
#Maybe your lump was because it was on a bony bit

I agree, why are you going back each month? I think you should try another clinic

lovemylover · 18/01/2018 19:46

I hope the OP isnt being charged for all these top ups sounds very dodgy to me, you usually give it a few weeks to see if it has worked before going back for top ups

Lordofmyflies · 18/01/2018 20:11

Sounds dodgy to me. For the bruising try and keep your head propped up at night, ice and arnica, but I'm more concerned about the frequent top-ups. Good practice is a consultation with the prescriber followed by a cooling off period for you to think about the injections, then book the botox and a follow up consultation 2 weeks later where you may or may not require a top up.
This sounds grabby and unprofessional.

Thanks all x

So had the 3 week post appt for top up, eyebrows and high up in the forehead, under eyes etc, that was Around 8th Dec. No charge. Then on Tuesday my forehead and eye areas, charged £40. (£350 initially) - how long do you find it takes to work out ‘how much’ you need? Would it be a strength thing? Can Botox be watered down? Confused as I know they go for the more ‘natural’ look, would it be the brand? Think I’ll definitely wait until Botox is established until I even consider filler.

Apologies - 11s where injected in the 11s. Then lower forehead and Around eyes. Then I felt/looked like droopy eyebrows so then top up higher in forehead and above eyebrows to lift, and again more under lower eyes and bunny lines (they appeared!) x

I cant uinderstand this at all, usually its one session of botox, check up in 2-3 weeks, top up free of charge if needed, you will know after 3 weeks if it has taken where it was injected, and only top up where neccessary
As it is you are constantly being topped up and just adding more and more when you might not need it
Also £350 sounds a lot, especially to have been charged another £40, you should only need to go after about 5-6 months, i think you are being scammed to be honest
To answer your question about strength, there are different strengths but if the practitioner is experienced she should know which strength to use for where, no good having botox if it doesnt make any difference4I had mine 3 weeks ago and going for a checkup and possibly a top up [free] just above one eyebrow, as one is higher than the other. and of course as i said i have bruised a lot
Find another practitioner, and ask what there practice is, this isnt right what you are having done
I am sure someone else will be along to tell you the same,
A dentist is usually good at botox if they do it,as they know the facial muscles

Loonoonow · 19/01/2018 12:35

It sounds wrong to me. I started Botox about 14 months ago and have only had 4 lots in that time and don't expect to go again for a couple of months. Nor have I ever had lumps or bruises.

I would agree that you need to be treated by an experienced medical practitioner.

Tulipsandclogs · 19/01/2018 15:07

Thanks ladies, I was treated by an ex dentist, over 20 years experience, teaches etc 😳
The ‘Cameron diaz’ look was mentioned with regard filler but I’ve never had cheek bones in my life.. x

Well if it was me i would get a second opinion, it just doesnt sound right
Never heard of anyone having to pay for topups either
As a matter of interest, how does it look now? are you happy with what hes done, up to now,
After the first lot of injections you should know [or they should know how much you need, its not neccessary to go back for top ups,so the amount of times you have had to go back seems to mean he has not put enough in even after the second top up
If he is as experienced as he says he is not very good

Tulipsandclogs · 19/01/2018 20:16

Honestly, after the first top up which was the 8th December (3 weeks after first treatment) I felt great until around 10 days ok, but quickly started to diminish. I was thinking it would be around the end of February at least until it started to wear off.. I have found another clinic, again has 5 star rating, so hard to get recommendations as I don’t know anybody who has it where I live.. London’s a 4 hour drive away.. thanks for reassuring me I’m not being unreasonable and to seek an alternative! x

Hi OP, I felt compelled to comment as I’m an aesthetic Nurse and something sounds amiss.

I charge £240 for the standard 3 areas of botox for women and I use 64 units of botox for women initially or 96 units for men (I charge men £320 because of the extra 50unit vial I have to order in case a top up is needed.

I review 21 days after treatment (not 14 as can take 21 days for treatment to have full effect). If it has reduced movement by some power but not satisfactorily then I put 2 more units in each site that needs it. And that’s it.

I think your practitioner is trying to upsell - I would proceed with caution and maybe consider going elsewhere. Enticing the public to have more treatment than they want is a HUGE no no and is severely frowned upon.

Tulipsandclogs · 22/01/2018 09:58

Thank you fruitcider.. I am quite wrinkly, particularly my forehead! One side of my 11s is very deep. Anyway I loved it for two weeks! So once I find a great practitioner happy days! I’m guessing I’d look completely abnormal with filler creating cheek bones that I’ve never actually had?
Thanks again x

It would look really artificial. Aesthetics should be about improving the natural beauty you already have, not changing it completely! X
