MIL & I are off outfit shopping bank holiday weekend for my BIL's wedding.
Haven't been to London shopping alot, when I have it's mostly been for every day clothes.

Where do I need to be heading - area's & specifics please.

I'd try Oxford Street and the area around st christophers place to start with. handy for Selfridges, Debenhams and M&S on Oxford Street. There's a Jigsaw, Kew, Noanoa and several other boutiquey places and then you can head for the big stores too.

I'm not the last word in style, but here are the places I would go. Hopefully it will start you off, and loads of far more sophisticated shoppers will pile in and tell you that I am wrong!

I would possibly start on the Kings Road. Get off the tube at Sloane Square (ignore the stereotype). Walk towards Peter Jones - maybe your first stop. Not particularly exciting, but it is a John Lewis with some fairly nice bog standard clothes. Could be a budget option.

I would then walk down the Kings Road - there are large branches of Joseph, Whistles, Kew, Karen Millen etc.

There are a couple of nice 'ladies who lunch' type outdoor cafes/restaurants, and the overall vibe is much more laid back than Oxford Street.

If you keep going for miles, you will end up at Steinberg and Tolkien, which is a really cool vintage shop. This could be a good place to pick up that interesting handbag or vintage scarf to accessorise your outfit?

Gosh - just remembered New Bond Street/South Molton Street. How could I forget?

There are lots of lovely boutiques - it's the more upmarket end of Oxford street if you want something special and expensive. I would get the tube to Bond Street and then walk down South Molton Street. If you carry on down the back streets, you can get to Liberty - probably the number one destination for v expensive and offbeat clothes.

This way, you have all the big department stores on Oxford Street handy - Debenhams, John Lewis, House of Fraser.

We wanted to go to Liberty as MIL has found a dress she loves and Liberty are one of the stockists. Think i will print this thread and show her.
I wouldn't have considered going to Kings Road, thought it was all Gucci & Prada which although I don't have a prticular budget, I doubt I could afford one shoe from either of those let alone a dress, shoes, jewellry etc

Have just had a look at some of the shops on Kings Road - looks ideal place to start

If you are coming for a weekend, you might be able to fit both in?
