Easter wedding - what to wear?

Just that really. I tend to wear darker colours, and jewel tones. Awful in pastels.
Dark hair, fair skin, green eyes.
It’s DHs (very slim and stylish) sister’s wedding, so I want to look the part.
I’m also a bit chubby at the moment - a 14/16, but fairly tall and hourglassy with it.

Throw some ideas at me!!

I should have said, I don’t think ‘my’ colours are really right for Easter.
I can wear things with yellow tones, like orange/coral/yellowish greens etc.

Hi OP

Do you have a budget in mind ? And any particular styles you do or don't like ?

I have this dress in navy which is very flattering on

lux-fix.com/shop/lisa-coral-lace-dress-by-body-frock
This website normally has some great dresses for weddings - though at the moment it all looks quite dark

just because it’s Easter doesn’t mean you have to dress like the Easter bunny Smile

Wear whatever colours you like!

At an April wedding I went to it was cold and overcast. Colours iI saw there pale grey and black (and looked very smart/appropriate).
Meow about the classic black and white? Maybe a colourbloxk dress or a polka dress.

I've heard good reports of the John Lewis personal shopper service, which is free and promises no pressure to buy. Could you try a session, to see what they might suggest?

I'm wondering where your ideas about 'your' colours not being suitable, though. That doesn't sound like my understanding of my colours. Have you picked these colours yourself, or has someone suggested them to you. A really good colour consultant could really be helpful

I have learned the shades and versions of any colour that suit me and would always stick to them. All my clothes work with each other, only need for example new shoes/bag if i want them, never required to 'go' with a new outfit. Good luck with finding the right outfit, the one that gives you a bit of a lift when you put it on, even when you just think about wearing it.

I got married at Easter and most of my guests wore navy. Part of my outfit was navy and my sister's dress was navy (she wasn't a bridesmaid, but it was the closest I had to a bridesmaid).

The wedding was at a naval town, so it was like a theme had generated itself, it looked great!

No one wore pastels.

I’d love to get my colours done properly. I think I tend to think in terms of seasons, so Spring = pastels, Winter = black and jewels, Summer = brights and Autumn = earthy.
And using those crude categories I tend to drift from Autumn to Winter depending on my hair colour and whether I have a tan.

Budget, maybe £200ish for the outfit. I have loads of shoes, so probably won’t need them.
