Non- nursing bra for nursing

As I will soon return to work, I suspect the crop tiop style nursing bras I’ve been wearing throughout pregnancy and maternity leave won’t look so good. I’ll need something that is still compatible with breastfeeding, especially if baby is grumpy and impatient and I need to feed ASAP once I pick them up from nursery after work!

Any suggestions? I’d lr get something non wired and will need to use breast pads in case of leakage. Thanks.

I can't work out if you want wired or non wired (think there's a typo in there). I use the satine plunge from bravissimo, has easy to fold down cups and very comfy. I went in for a fitting and explained my requirements- they were v helpful.

Blahblahblahyadayadayada · 17/01/2018 00:17

Sorry about that. I should have typed non wired. That’s what happens when (feeding) baby taps the phone!

I always thought bravissimo were for larger cup sizes. I’ll look for a branch near me.

I’ve got some nice bras from hotmilk. They’re nursing bras, but have more structure than the standard crop top style you’re trying to avoid. They feel just like real bras, and are quite pretty.

Don’t let the name put you off (or is it just me that hates it?) - it might be worth a look?

PineappleScrunchie · 17/01/2018 05:42

I also have normal-looking nursing bras from hot milk. I’m still using them now even though I’ve stopped feeding.

HoneyDragon · 17/01/2018 07:15

Daisy range from Next, lots of sizes and styles, unwired and you have the option of a lightly padded one to hide pads if you want a ‘proper’ bra. You can lift your boob out and tuck it back in.

Or it’s the hook and eyelet ones from places like mothercare or M&S maternity.

Agree I loved the hot milk ones but hated the name. Made me think of mastitis Grin

I had some nursing bras from new look and they looked like normal bras, I still wear them now. Was a couple of years ago so not sure if they still do them

KatharinaRosalie · 17/01/2018 09:11

I couldn't wear any of my work clothes with non-wired bras. The boobs were simply in the wrong place. But it's of course fine to wear underwire when feeding.
Have you tried it with just normal bras? It probably won't work with full cup styles, but with a plunge or half cup, it's very easy to simply slide the strap off your shoulder and get the boob out, no unlipping or unhooking needed.

And yes go to Bravissimo - they start at D cups, which most women are if fitted properly.

Blahblahblahyadayadayada · 17/01/2018 10:54

I need to measure as I don’t know what size I am anymore. I’m not big. I just find shopping for clothes such a hassle now so if I can have order online if I measure myself that’s be better.

I never got on with plunge style bras. I’ll take a look at he hotmilk ones. Terrible name, though!

Anita underwired nursing bras.

INeedNewShoes · 17/01/2018 16:52

I've got a panache Sophie nursing bra that I really like.

BluebellGal · 17/01/2018 17:12

Anita underwire nursing bras are fabulous

They are look nice and are comfy. I wore mine after stopping breastfeeding!

You can get them from Rigby and Peller (or cheaper on amazon / eBay). I had black and white

Blahblahblahyadayadayada · 17/01/2018 17:36

Thanks for all the suggestions.
I never felt comfortable in underwired bras, even before pregnancies. I always wore the M+S non wired padded t shirt bras but the quality has deteriorated (or maybe it’s because I just wash them with all my other laundry rather than a separate delicate wash).

Really, go to Bravissimo. I would not be surprised if you were in the wrong size all along.

Anita is not bad but careful with sizing, as they skip double letters so the cup is smaller.

INeedNewShoes · 17/01/2018 18:27

Bravissimo might be good for fitting but when I went there for nursing bras this time last year the ones they had were horrid, up to the armpits, pointy cup affairs.
