Under eye lines - does anything work?

Hi all, I am 38 and have dry and dehydrated skin. I have fine lines appearing under my eyes and I think they are becoming more noticeable. I have a good skincare routine but don't use a dedicated eye product. My diet is good (lots of fruit and veg, fairly low sugar intake, hardly any caffeine, plenty of water) and I get enough sleep

Does anything work on under eye lines? The area looks like it needs firming up and tightening. Thanks

Only thing that's made a difference for me is Botox and Bobbi browns hydrating eye cream!

No to the Botox, maybe to Bobbi Brown! Grin Thanks

Wear sunglasses whenever you can, this should slow them down. My friends are amazing at my lack of lines around my eyes, I've put it down to the fact that I always wear glasses so that skin is in shadow most of the time

Retinol serum, sunglasses, and HYDRATION inside and out. You want that skin to be as hydrated as possible with something like the bobbi brown cream before you apply under eye concealer. Really take the time to press it in. If it all absorbs, apply more until no more will go in. If you put concealer on dry skin it will just sink into the lines and make them more noticable.

Kits, I have noticed some concealers do sink into the lines so that's a good point. I don't use a separate eye cream at the moment but will think about trying one. I do wear sunglasses when its bright but not routinely. I use a moisturiser with SPF15 in at this time of year but use a separate SPF 50 in Spring and Summer.

I'm a bit scared of retinol Confused

Hyaluronic acid + retinol. You have nothing to fear with retinol, but put it on at night and wear SPF 30+ sunscreen every day. Those products in conjunction can actually improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and wearing a high SPF every day can even reverse sun damage (I just had proof of this yesterday when I had a comparison of my skin 2 years ago vs. now after using it religiously every day in between). In other words, don't despair! What you're seeing is normal ageing, but you need to start using some products on it now if you're to stop the clock (or at least as much as possible). Go and see a dermatologist if you want reassurance and personal advice.

Thanks all. I bought the new Simple Hydrating Booster, which isn't specific for eyes but is specific for dehydrated skin (that's me). Planning to pat into eye area every morning and evening as directed upthread. Also continue with SPF every day and sunglasses as needed. May be heading in the direction of retinol at some point but not right now Smile
