Semi-permanent make up/Eyebrow tattoo?

I'm mid 30s and about to have baby no.3. I'm the kind of person who puts on make up everyday even if I'm not planning to leave the house! There is a minimum amount of make up I need to have on before I will let anyone see me (except DH and kids of course). Yet I have less and less time to actually put the stuff on. Having semi-permanent eyebrows and eyeliner done seems like the perfect solution. I get to wake up looking better than natural, so I might feel a bit more comfortable and maybe when i'm on holiday or not going out would feel able not to apply any extra make up. But even if I wanted to do some make up it would cut my make up time down, (i feel my eyebrows take one of the longest to sort). DH is even on board as he gets fed up of how long I spend putting on make up!

Any advice? Any pitfalls? Will it be as good a solutions as I'm hoping. How do I choose a good person to do it?

No advice as I’ve not done it, but it’s a good idea!

I can suggest seventeen tattoo me liner and maybelline tattoo eyebrow gel.

These aren’t really semi permanent but are long lasting, the liner for 48 hours and the eyebrow tattoo is supposed to last for three days.

This is such a good idea I hate wasting time faffing with eyeliner everyday, I wear the same flick every day so it may as well be permanent. Also I could do with less dead lips!

I did this nearly a year ago. I chose a woman with a brilliant reputation who also does work for people who have had breast reconstruction as well as eyebrows, lip liners etc. However, it won't have been 12 months until April and I already need it doing again, it just doesn't last. This is what I've also heard from others, including someone who carries out the procedure. You should be able to get a top up every 18 months, but I'm already filling mine back in every morning. I will get it done again, but I'll go much darker this time as it fades so much that it's not worth the money otherwise. You'll feel like you have slugs on your face for the ten days you can't get them wet, but they do fade right down. Where do you live? I know two ladies, one in Yorkshire and one in Kent, both really highly recommended. Just be prepared for the ongoing top up cost!

I'd be terrified they wouldn't do a good job and I'd be stuck looking like a clown for goodness knows how long!

Thanks patti that's really useful to know! Hmm it does sound good as I would still get maybe 12 months of not having to do my eyebrows but it is a little disappointing that it needs redoing so often. The websites I was looking at suggested 2-3 years!!

I'm in South Wales so was looking at Cardiff places. Also not sure what I'd do about the 10 days of them looking like slugs!! Might feel I had to hide!

I went to www.karenbetts.co.uk] who was brilliant, but I agree with patti that it doesn't last as long as you might expect from the literature. It was however brilliant and a great shape.

Part of the initial consultation, which can be done as the first part of the actual process, if you want to, was to have the ideal brow drawn with a wax pencil type of thing. This meant that I got to see what it would look like before we went ahead. I actually asked for some of it to be removed, because I don't usually wear any make up and am quite fair anyway and was terrified of having great slugs. I know it was great, because my very glamorous mother (we wonder what happened to make me so 'natural') made up her mind on the spot that she wanted to have hers done, too.

Brilliant, I have resigned myself to going back annually. I had the owner last time, might be happy with a senior stylist (just like the hairdresser) in future.

Ooh, yes, lovely Ollivander, they look great. How long ago were they done, are you pleased with the result?

Ollivander84 · 17/01/2018 17:48

Done in October and yes! They were done with a digital machine, sometimes called micropigmentation

I am blonde and mine faded within 4 months - by that point I was having to fill in and now a year later I have one almost faded away and one hanging on. Not a good look but wouldn’t do it again. Seems very hit or miss depending on skin type.

I had mine done just under a year ago. Best thing I ever did! It took 45 minutes of my make up routine! True story!

I was skeptical at first and took over a year to finally decide to do it. Lots of research involved too.

I literally had odd eyebrows lol one was higher than the other and after a years of over plucking they were thin and sparse. When I first got them done I didn't like them as they were totally different to what I was used to. Then I went back a month later for my top up and loved them! So full and always "on" and now I look done up with out any make up on. I literally have a 6 minute make up routine for every day make up now!

Do it you won't regret it.

mirandasings · 17/01/2018 18:17

I have black hair have been on multiple sun holidays the past year and they have faded slightly. If I'm going for a night out I'll use eyebrow pomade over them for a more dramatic look.

I'm due a top up in the next 6 months.

Lastnightshesaid · 17/01/2018 18:51

I had mine done in March. One of the best things I ever did :-) I spent ages filling them in and a fortune on eyebrow pencils. They're still going strong and I know several other people who have them and are the same. I'm preg now so won't be getting them redone for a good while and I'm hopeful they will be ok or only need minimal filling in.

Pebbles on Whitchurch Road in Heath :-)
