What to wear to court...

Trying to distract myself from the details of the case by focussing on the outfit....

Need it to say: sensible, reliable, responsible.

I’m 30s

omerhing. 5’4, slightly overweight and blonde.

Are you the defendant, a witness, a juror or in a legal role?

Is wear something smart but still casual- smart trousers, plain blouse and a cardigan personally it depends what you’re comfortable in.

Depends! Are you defendant? Lawyer? Jury?

Or expert?

I'm a barrister, so I see people every day in Court. Don't worry too much about what to wear, people only notice if it's 'out there'. If you're a witness, something comfortable that won't frighten your granny is perfect.

Avoid jeans, mini skirts, low cut tops, slogan t shirts, hoodies, anything dirty or ripped.

If I were to give evidence, I'd wear either smart trousers, shoes, a long sleeved top and a blazer, or maybe a dress, tights and a cardigan.

Jury? Smart but non memorable. You don't want the accused family remembering what you look like.

Defendant - Family case.

Last time I was in court I wore Blouse, Cardigan, pair of Trousers and Boots

I’d wear a dress, cardigan and boots or similar outfit. I used to go to (crown) court most days as a journo and tended to wear dresses and blazers, or black skinny jeans with blouses, that kind of thing.
No flesh on show, but no need to go fully suited and booted. Just clean and conservative.

Just clean , smart and tidy. That's all.

I’ve worked in crown and magistrates’ courts in the past.
Smart trousers, blouse/shirt, cardigan, shoes with a small heel.
Keep jewellery simple and small.
Hair should be clean and tidy, make up natural, nails not too long or bright.

Just wear something fairly smart and 'mumsy'. I'm in family court a lot and see people turn up in tracksuits.

That dress you linked is ideal. That’s exactly the kind of thing I used to wear. (My job was as a member of the public but I had to observe general court etiquette).

Also from my experience, it's applicant and respondent and not defendant.
