Does anyone have this hairstyle and how do you do it?

I've been growing my hair for about a year and it's a little shorter than the picture on the left here. I don't have time to manage it daily as it's pretty thick and takes ages to dry. It is looking shapeless, dry and just a mess.

I love the picture on the right but realise this is clearly a just done at the salon shot. My hair is thick and has a natural wave so I could see this working on me although I'm guessing they've used a styling aid on it too.
Has anyone got this style and if so how do you get that wave look? Is it tongs or straighteners?

My hair left to dry naturally would be wavy but would be a frizz bomb not sleek like this.

I'm booked in at hairdressers this week so would appreciate any advice before I go. Really in need of a change.

Wow that looks great Tatie.

I went for the big chop just before Christmas. I had waist length, thick and dry hair. Had it chopped into the exact shape as your first post OP and my only regret was not having done it sooner.

I style it to look like the finish in the photo you shared. I do it every morning and it takes about 5 mins. I use heat protecting spray and only do the top layer into waves then use hairspray. If I'm going out after work I might do top and bottom waves.

It's full of life, healthy and easy to manage. I was amazed by how little I use of my hair products now, I use to lather the conditioner on my dry ends but now use such a small amount and it's silky!

I can't recommend going for the chop enough Grin you'll love it!

That looks really lovely and I love the colours in your hair. You've had quite a lot of length off, bet it feels fab.

Popfart sounds great. Do you use a styling cream & do you use curling tongs or straighteners?

No styling cream, just the heat protecting spray which I buy from my salon. I originally used GHF curlers and they were great but after I'd left them in a hotel room I bought some emergency Babyliss curlers from Debenhams for around £18 and I find they're much better for loose waves. I finish it with some hairspray and that's it, it'll stay wavy all day.

Also, at the length you're looking at going, just sticking a bobble in when it's damp and leaving it overnight creates a nice wave at the ends for the days when you can't be bothered. If I'd have done that with my long hair I'd be struggling to get the bobble out of the frizz for days Grin

Hi OP, I use Lee Stafford Coco loco blow & go styling cream, you get it in boots. It's really light and smells divine. You only need a tiny bit on damp hair, it's great for frizz control, a tube lasts me about 2 months. Like pp I'm amazed at how little conditioner etc I need now compared to when I had very long thick hair. My only regret was not having it cut sooner too.
