I found it disappointing.

Very odd that the presenter dud the know about sun damage.
Also, the cheap vs expensive trials. The don’t know, but foundation can’t nes the n so many different formulations it’s impossible just to do cheap and expensive. They had three different women who all have different skin and needs, so one foundation doesn’t fit all. For me it about the colour, so it’s all good saying a cheap foundation is the best but what if they don’t have the colour range.
Also, lip gloss? No one really wears lip gloss anymore.
Mascara? Why did they choose two from the same stable?

Also, I found the presenter annoying, all the gurning and funny voices she used.

I did watch half of it, but didn’t like it so far.

I agree I didn't like the make up part. No one discussed shades and how high street doesn't cater to yellow undertones. Mac has a better range for Asian tones imho.
Moisturizer trials never took skin type into consideration. Could have included more about cleansing as that is very important for good skin.
We all knew about sun cream
but I was genuinely surprised about the fancy packaging and low self esteem thing. I will be looking at fancy stuff differently now.

There's another thread on this so maybe check it out. Saying the same about the foundation, apparently Sally Hughes says some of it was cut.
Agree, how can she not know a about SPF? She seemed quite cheery that if she started wearing SPF now all would be fine. The damage has already been done, hence the ageing!

MorrisZapp · 11/01/2018 11:10

Ooh I remember make up programmes of the past. Liza Tarbuck presented one didn't she.

And the one with that Gustafson guy. Always thought he was an odd choice for the telly.

I thought it was odd about the sunscreen too, I've applied it every day for 18 years, it's not new information by any means.

Things that work are boring compared to pots of lovely designer skin care though.

stayfit · 11/01/2018 14:59

I think it does serve as a reminder to all and useful to probably someone who is new to skincare. I wish she also mentioned about genetics.
I think it's probably true that a £2 pot of cream if it suits you is just as good as a £45 one which looks so good and makes you feel like it's better for you.

I ran out of my usual Clinique Moisture Surge on holidays recently and had to grab a moisturiser from the corner shop so it was Simple Light Lotion which was about £2.50. It is just as good - hydrating, doesn’t make me shiny or greasy, fragrance free, sits well under make up. I’ll never spend £35 on a moisturiser again. (I do use the Ordinary serums underneath so need a neutral type moisturiser for over the top.)

Delatron · 11/01/2018 16:26

Latest thinking is use serum (with vitamin c, a etc and other powerful ingredients). Then sunscreen over the top. I don't use a moisturiser anymore. SPF provides moisture, serums have the good ingredients.

Gwenhwyfar · 11/01/2018 22:30

I've known about the sun screen for years, but not really believed. I read it in women's magazines, but some doctors complained about lack of Vit D. I take a supplement now.
I think there's a bit of poetic licence in these programmes. I don't believe for a moment that Cherry Healey didn't know about sun damage.
Nothing particularly new, but still interesting.
