Hello!

Does anyone know what I can use on my hair to take the brassy/yellow tones out? It is my natural colour. I have tried the purple shampoo but it does nothing. I don’t really want it properly dyed or lightened though 🤔 Any ideas mumsnetter?!

I realise the hat isn’t helpful but this pic shows the yellowness off well!

If that's your natural hair colour I think all you need is a good cut and then maintaining a good condition. Try JF Sheer Blonde Go Blonder shampoo, it's not purple based and is brilliant for natural blonde hair. Use a moisturising mask regularly and leave on for as long as possible, in winter apply to towel dried hair and then put a bag/ hair turban from the pound shop on top to keep heat in. Your hair colour is gorgeous!

Fudge hear too. Buy a big bottle off amazon, lasts around NUS a year or twice weekly washes

moonbells · 09/01/2018 22:00

I'm another natural strawberry blonde. Spent half my life wishing it was either proper blonde or proper red. And the latter half enjoying the fact that it's neither!
I've never dyed it, and am looking at greys now wondering how the heck I can keep it the same for a few more years.

Enjoy being a little bit different!

readyforapummelling · 09/01/2018 22:09

I have highlights but my red still shines through the blonde so I use fudge weekly. I have quite course curly hair so I don't need to wash it too often thank god! It's a mare.

Bluntness100 · 09/01/2018 22:13

You're really pretty and your hair colour is lovely, it suits your skin tone. Honestly time will come when the greys will come. I'd leave it be. Good condition and a trim is all it needs. It's not remotely brassy.

sakura06 · 09/01/2018 22:14

Your hair is a beautiful colour!

DenPerry · 09/01/2018 23:06

My hair is the same natural colour as yours and I know what you mean, it's not brassy but quite yellowy and I never liked it. It suits you much better than it did me though! I solved it by putting a lighter blonde on, sorry Grin I have now been dying it dark brown for ten years as I really don't like the yellow blonde colour.

MrsApplepants · 09/01/2018 23:20

I’d recommend fudge. From amazon. It is quite powerful and you get temporary purple hands. Maybe try it on a small section first to see if you like the effect! I still don’t think you need it though!

Missonihoni · 09/01/2018 23:21

Scott Cornwall anti brass thing is good however may only be suitable for colour treated hair.

Apileofballyhoo · 09/01/2018 23:27

My first thought was your hair looked completely naturally blonde - and so it is. It's gorgeous and a colour that others want and can't really get from a bottle!

GlitterUnicornsAndAllThatJazz · 10/01/2018 06:39

You're so cute OP, please don't touch your hair colour!

It looks like it could do with some deep conditioning, and then if I were you I would get a trim and play around with enhancing the natural curl you have.

Ilikecakes · 10/01/2018 06:45

Learning loads here! Naturally dark but had highlights last week and an orange tinge is already starting to creep in Angry

About to order the Fudge shampoo, but should I get the conditioner too?

readyforapummelling · 10/01/2018 07:21

Yes to the conditioner. Mine come as a set think it was £30? That was mid last year and it does last a while.

Ilikecakes · 10/01/2018 10:50

Thanks ready

Mylady · 10/01/2018 12:04

Fudge good for yellow tones - Matrix brass off is supurb on more orangy tones - there is a full range but the conditioning mask is excellent and double bubble as really good for health of hair x

Clarabumps · 10/01/2018 18:43

I use Fanola on my bleached highlighted hair. I have a lot of warm tones in my hair and it takes any brassy tones straight out.

mrsreynolds · 10/01/2018 18:55

Daddy o from lush
Get so many compliments on my steel grey hair - even my hairdresser recommends it now!

Ohyesiam · 10/01/2018 19:02

Don't change a thing! Your hair and the rest of you are VERY pretty.

Ilikecakes · 10/01/2018 20:23

Oh shit, ordered the Fudge before reading mylady's post! One of my many NY resolutions was to stop procrastinating and just do things as soon as I think of them. That'll learn me eh? Grin

Pawpainting · 10/01/2018 21:01

Try JF Sheer Blonde Go Blonder shampoo, it's not purple based and is brilliant for natural blonde hair.

Please do not use this OP. The JF go blonder spray has destroyed my hair. I have read similar reviews about the shampoo.

Mylady · 10/01/2018 23:27

You coukd use both - the matrix as the "fix' maybe once a month -the fanola to maintain.
You could get a toner put on at a hairdressers tigi glossing would be a goox choice
Personally i think it suits ypur skin tones - if you came to my salon I would probably do silver ash babylights to add dimentionalty abd give it a lift without making you look pale

MikeUniformMike · 10/01/2018 23:33

The temporary hair colours that last 24-28 washes do wreck your hair and will leave your hair brassy.

Chicinwellies · 11/01/2018 14:03

Simple - milkshake purple shampoo, and philip Kingsley pre shampoo Elasticizer.
