Skin when you stop drinking

When you stop drinking does your skin actually improve or does then not drinking just stop it from getting worse? Am determined to commit to dry January. Have such sad and tired looking skin and crepey eyes. Feel sad when I look at myself.

I enjoy my drink now and then, but I noticed that taking milk thisle and artichoke supplements help my completion, I drink a lot of water too, I massage my face everyday too, it helps circulation.. I can't imagine going completely dry for the whole month, good luck

Drinking makes my skin dehydrated and wrinkly, when I don't drink my skin is generally smooth and plumper. After a weekend (3 days heavy drinking) one of my eyes was sore and very wrinkly and it took a good 4 weeks to go back to normal!

Sorry, I just reread your op. I'm not 100% sure but I think stopping the dehydrated alcohol will make your skin plumper, therefore plumping up the wrinkles!

I can never believe the difference in my appearance when I'm on the wagon.

I've done dry January every year for the last few years and never noticed a difference in my skin. I think it happens for those who were drinking large amounts before.

We (DH and me), did a dry 2017. We are both amazed at the difference in how we look. With me, it's harder to assess if it's all down to no alcohol because I also lost 4 stone in weight over the year AND started a decent skin care routine. For him though, alcohol was the only thing that changed. I would say he looks 10-15 years younger, skin looks fresh and light. In fact although we certainly aren't committing to never drinking again, 'dryness' has carried on into 2018 so far - having thought we'd be gagging for it by 31 Dec, we simply weren't bothered enough to start again.

You certainly sleep better when you’re not drinking, and proper sleep makes your skin better.
