Sports Bra help

EllaBells · 03/01/2018 19:58

I am looking to start couch to 5k and need a very high impact sports bra if anyone can help? I am around a 38G and the ones I have seen online seem to have mixed reviews and really expensive.

Thanks Smile

Panache ultimate underwired

whiskyfairy · 03/01/2018 20:04

Shock absorber bras are pretty good or Marks and Spencer's range offer good support and not too expensive.

Please please don't think this is an area you can scrimp on because running in an unsupportive bra is super painful! It's worth the investment.

Make sure you look out for one labelled for 'high impact' sports as some cheaper sports bras are only really meant for yoga/going to the gym.

Shock Absorber. Amazing (but truly fugly) things.

CMOTDibbler · 03/01/2018 20:06

I''ve never got on with Shock Absorber, but really like Panache. A bra I haven't tried, but which gets v good reviews in larger sizes is the Enell - have a look on BoobyDoo or LessBounce

whiskyfairy · 03/01/2018 20:06

Wiggle currently have Shock Absorber bras for around £18 in their sale.

EllaBells · 03/01/2018 20:07

Thanks I will check panache & shock absorber next - currently on M&S website but even the ultimate ones get mixed reviews or are out of stock in all large sizes ahhhh.

I am happy to spend around £30 or a little more I just want a good one that I can get delivered quickly .

Yes to checking out Wiggle . They have some good prices and free delivery.

I rate Shock Absorber Run and the multisports one too (am not v large breasted).:

Freshprincess · 03/01/2018 20:12

Shock absorber for me too. I'm F cup and they don't move. Word of warning they are really tight, so I had to go up a band size. I got fitted in John Lewis.

Completely agree with the poster who said don't scrimp on the bra, especially at the cup size you are. I'd run barefoot before I ran without my shock absorber.

whiskyfairy · 03/01/2018 20:13

Wiggle is a really popular online shop for running stuff Smile very reputable and safe to shop online. They carry a lot of last season stock or current lines in last seasons colours. I've used them a lot.

Chchchchangeabout · 03/01/2018 20:14

The bravissimo ones usually work for me

Pinkywoo · 03/01/2018 20:15

I'm a G cup too and have a shock absorber, no movement whatsoever!

Chopsypie · 03/01/2018 20:17

Shock absorber don't work for me, mine was a racer back type and I couldn't fasten it.

I have this one and I love it

Haha Ella I didn't mean to sound patronising! Was just reassuring you that it is legit. I often don't trust websites I've never heard of Grin

OCSockOrphanage · 03/01/2018 20:19

| have an (ancient) one from an American company called Natori, and if anyone sees one, please post a link! It is, without doubt, the ugliest garment ever manufactured but mostly cotton and so, so comfortable.

MikeUniformMike · 03/01/2018 20:23

I hate the pull on type.
I'd go for a fitting (not at M&S). You need high impact - which will give you no jiggle at all, but the band needs to fit or it will chafe on longer runs.
You might find a bargain in TK Maxx.

Jenala · 03/01/2018 20:23

Shock absorber ultimate run bra, for sure. I've tried others and nothing is as good. It's worth going into a shop and trying lots of similar sizes. You can always then order it online.

Last weekend I replaced my poor stretched shock absorber. I tried on a 38FF, a 38G, a 36G and a 38F. I thought the 36G fit well but then tried a sister size, 38F, which gave far better support (yes I jumped up and down in the fitting room). So don't just go by your 'normal' size as even if it appears to fit another size might give you better support. I suspect that explains the bad reviews. If I had ordered a 36G online it would have appeared to fit well but the support wouldn't have been as good as it could be iyswim - and then I could have been writing a bad review.

Aridane · 06/01/2018 21:41

Shock Absorber is incredible!

EllaBells · 08/01/2018 11:15

@whisky it wasn't patronising Smile

Thanks Jen & Aridane I went with the shock absorber however did order online as I wouldn't have time to get to the shops. It gives great support ( no long running here just fast walking and slow jogging at the most! ) . A pp was right I am normally a 38 although lose weight around my bust first so thought 38 would be ok as I've lost a little weight already and my normal bras feel a bit loose however it is very tight on but I am happy with it.
