Best high street not-too-glowy compact foundation?

I just want a compact that’s a teensy bit heavier and moister (ew horrific word sorry) than a pressed powder, to keep in desk/bag and touch up shiny nose/ mysteriously red chin at lunch. I have such an early start for work so by 11am I need to do a quick swipe with a compact to restore matte order but no time to go and fanny around with liquid concealers and separate powders and the like. Any recommendations?

I really like the Max Factor Facefinity powder foundation and also NYX Stay Matte Not Flat powder foundation.

Do you know I think it was a max factor one I had in my head that I was thinking of.

I'm not a lover of the Max Factor powder but I highly recommend Elizabeth Arden Bouncy compact foundation. It's slightly dewy and lovely!

BusterGonad · 03/01/2018 17:42

Forgot to add it's a new hybrid foundation, not quite a liquid or powder!

Used to love one my Mac..... Can't remember the name

I love the Clinique Almost Powder makeup

Eh, I was in Superdrug and the max factor looked all the wrong colours, but bought maybelline ‘full coverage’ powder instead, it’ll have to do. Compact foundation seems a thing of the past in standard high st makeup ranges (it was a posh Superdrug in the City in London - I’ve never been in such a clean, shiny, well-stocked Superdrug!)

On the other hand HOW MUCH glittery, gold highlighter can be sold at anyone time? There’s fifty million variations on the theme but nothing that looks like a good dupe for hourglass which is a shame.

I have the same issue at work and keep
Avon true colour cream to powder on my bag. It can be light or give full coverage.

I think that many ranges have stopped doing it but I guess Avon is still a bit old fashioned. I'm not sure on the colour range, I'm quite pale and went for the lightest which is fine, and they categorise their colours by your undertones too.

Oh wow that’s super helpful, love a little Avon nosey about! Thanks

I get a shine on my face half way through the day and I swear by the Max Factor compact too. Good coverage, mattifying and not heavy at all.

giddyupnow · 03/01/2018 22:04

I thought the max factor looked great but quite dark in shades? I’m quite pale - but maybe another store like boots would have bigger range.

Miracle Touch by Maybelline is good.
But yes, my favourite is also Avon True Colour. £6 in last month's book, I stocked up. Get your own sponge though, theirs is rubbish.
