Where can I get jeans that will fit DD?

She's just turned 11 and she's nearly 5'5" and really slim round the waist. Clothes shopping is a nightmare!

She needs new jeans as the ones I got her in September are halfway up her shins. She just wants normal skinnies but how do I get the length she needs and the slim waist? The ones she's been in up till now are H&M kids ones because they have the adjustable waist but I can't go up past age 12 because the waist is too big.

Any suggestions? Don't want to spend too much because she needs a few pairs!

La Redoute always seem to come up really long and skinny... and they have adjustable waists right up to age 16 :)

My DD1 (now 5 ft 10 and under 8 stone still!) has always been very tall and very thin and La Redoute has always been a great place to shop.

Alabasterangel6 · 03/01/2018 00:01

How small is her waist? What about primark? Some of their ladies stretch jeggings and skinny jeans start at a size 4? They do different lengths too and at £6/7 a pair they’re cheap and cheerful?

LookingforHope · 03/01/2018 00:02

My daughter is similarly tiny and finds Top Shop the best place for jeans ... overpriced but sales should be on now Grin

Bellabluea · 03/01/2018 00:06

I get my tall slim girls next slim jeans (and school trousers)
My 14 year old gets size 4 jeans from primary which are pretty good, she’s around 5’4.
Wish I still had the same problem!

Bellabluea · 03/01/2018 00:06

Primark*

Graphista · 03/01/2018 00:08

My dd the same - top shop been best for a few years, not cheap but we try to catch sales and there'll be sales on just now.

dotdotdotmustdash · 03/01/2018 00:10

I'm another one to recommend Primark jeans. Both my Ds and Dd were tall and very skinny and we always found the correct size in Primark for both jeans and school trousers. The added bonus being that you never have to iron them for some reason - they come out of the tumble dryer crease-free.

Mrsknackered · 03/01/2018 00:11

I'd go with top shop. They're overpriced but they do fit well.

QueenCity · 03/01/2018 00:13

I have a very tall and skinny 12 year old. Women's size 6 skinny jeans from Primark fit her really well.

Madcatter · 03/01/2018 00:14

Miss Selfridge? I'm 5'5" and a size 4-6 with scrawny thighs and no hips or arse. Miss Selfridge is the only place that fits my bottom half. Topshop is the same sizing but seems a different shape somehow.

FrivolouslyFancifulFannie · 03/01/2018 00:15

primark size 4 with various lenghts for my dds, either that or topshop arethe only jeans which fit then 5ft7 size 4-6

Reallylongstory · 03/01/2018 00:17

Primark & Topshop here too for Slinky Malinky dc. Primark kids are a really slim fit and topshop have jeans with different waist and leg fittings. Saw some 24 and 26” waists earlier in the week. Will now look at La Redoute too after pp reply. Boden used to be good for slim fit and adjustable waist but haven’t tried them in a few years so may have changed.

FrivolouslyFancifulFannie · 03/01/2018 00:18

if you want better quality the top shop ones are worth it, paid about £55 each for 3 pair last year and they still look great, primark ones are obviously not as good quality but they are so cheap you can replace them

Mulberrysilk · 03/01/2018 00:28

Try Hollister.

NC4now · 03/01/2018 00:36

I have a son with this issue - tall and very slim. I’ve always found Next to be best for his trousers (online once they hit teen sizes).
I don’t know what girls clothes are like in there but I expect they have the same range of fits.

Marv1nGay3 · 03/01/2018 00:46

Another vote for Top Shop although they are quite expensive! My 11 year old DD sounds a similar height and size to yours.

midnightmooch · 03/01/2018 08:59

Things get so much better when dd started to fit into ladies size 4 and size 6 - will check out Primark for jeans though as I've always found the quality of Primark Jeans to be remarkably good.
Ds is now trickier as he has a 26in waist and a 34 inside leg - he just has to wear boots to meet the gap but school uniform is impossible - he'll be wearing ankle flappers - a bit cooler than the nappy look (but not by much) until he broadens.

IHeartKingThistle · 03/01/2018 10:45

Thanks so much for the advice- will check all those out but think RL shopping may be the answer. Urgh.

dd says a lot of the boys now wear womans jeans apparently to get them tighter

KeiraTwiceKnightley · 03/01/2018 13:00

M and co are surprisingly good for teens and preteens.

Nctothisfornow · 03/01/2018 13:09

Next is really good. Im 5'1 and buy jeans in the petite section size 6. The 6 regular might be worth a try. The clearance section is great, i rarely pay full price for jeans from next. Lucky if i pay more than 12 quid.
New look have a good range as well

hendricksyousay · 03/01/2018 13:55

Top shop .. leggy slim 14 year old wears 25/32 . I think some styles go down to 20 waist

LockedOutOfMN · 03/01/2018 13:55

Topshop or Zara TRF should fit. H&M sometimes have smaller sizes in some stores. Sales on in all 3 at the moment.

For Topshop and Zara, you can always try a pair on in store to get the size, then look online to see if there's a wider selection of reduced pairs. With H&M I would be wary of buying online as the sizes can vary quite significantly.

Marylou2 · 03/01/2018 14:41

Boden Kids, Next Kids on-line go up to a 16. They still have an adjustable waist. Hollister are excellent. My DD is the same age and height 🙂

midnightmooch · 03/01/2018 15:42

FrivolouslyFancifulFannie Thanks that's a brilliant idea!
