Best facial for puffy skin?

I’ve been given a voucher for a beauty treatment as a Christmas present. I’d like to use it to book a facial but I’ve never had one. My face is very puffy and I have big bags under my eyes. I’ve got a wild hope that a facial could tackle this!
What would be a good type of treatment to go for?

Anyone?
I have a choice of one that uses glycolic acid, one that uses vitamin c or one that does some kind of ‘galvanic’ massage. Whatever that is. Or should I be looking at the anti-ageing type treatments that focus on wrinkles and fine lines to try to just make my face look refreshed rather than less puffy?

Anything that helps with lymph drainage would help, but to be honest, any decent facial will help with that (the massage one may be best). I love glycolic acid myself, which really helps with dull looking skin.

I'd explain when you call to book, and they will help you out.

Forgive my ignorance on such things, but does glycolic acid make your skin actually peel off, like some kind of extreme exfoliator? I’m just thinking if I need to be prepared to go make up free after if I choose that type of facial.

It depends on the concentrate. If it's a glycolic peel (usually pretty extensive) then it will shed (but not peel off in one go). If it's just used as a milder acid as part of a general facial then it wouldn't be as noticeable and it would act as a general exfoliation. So you may have some redness after, and perhaps some dryness as the top layer sloughs off, but it won't be as noticeably "peeling" as with a peel. Either way, I'd personally not bother with foundation for a day or two. Just baby your skin with lotion and let it breathe.

Expensive not extensive*

Quite often they’ll all be the same length of time so they’ll let you book in for a facial without specifying and then you can get proper advice on the day when they can see and feel your skin to see what will suit best.

I’d also go make up free for the rest of the day after any facial if possible. I know it can be difficult (I have acne and scarring) but I do notice the difference if I manage to leave it off.

Thanks for the tips. I hadn’t really thought about the fact the therapist will need to look at my skin to work out how best to treat it.
