Dressing gown - cotton, long and warm

calabalamuc · 02/01/2018 17:15

I am looking for a dressing gown that is mid calf length, not synthetic (makes my hair go Einstein), will keep me warm on cold mornings and is a nice strong colour (navy, red, green).
Marks, Next, John Lewis seem to be polyester heaven, Landsend only has puke colours left. I can't think where else to look.

Does anyone have recommendations?

White Company www.thewhitecompany.com/Hooded-Velour-Robe/p/HDCRB?swatch=Natural but colours are a bit wishywashy - they sometimes do a decent charcoal but couldn't see atm.

buggerthebotox · 02/01/2018 17:20

Dunelm! Nice cotton ones, probably in sale now. Just bought myself oneSmile.

I detest synthetic fluffy ones too.

shopafrolic · 02/01/2018 17:52

I have the John Lewis spa robe which is 100% cotton and warmer than I thought it would be.

Gonegrey31 · 02/01/2018 18:19

Toast have several that might fit your requirements. Expensive but such good quality.

calabalamuc · 02/01/2018 18:52

Oh thanks for these suggestions! I am feeling more positive. Loved the White Company one but the colour was too bleugh but I have found a navy unisex one on their site which looks lovely .... if I can justify 80 quid on a dressing gown Shock.

Also like the Dunelm but can't see how long they are. Toast were lovely too but I couldn't tell if the gingham one would be warm enough for my very chilly house! I hadn't thought waffle robes would be that cosy and I do like the look of them, if only it wasn't white.

Any more suggestions you dressing gown gurus - keep em coming (while I chew my nails and think about White Company extravagance....)

Might be too thin?

My DC bought me a Dunelm one a couple of years ago. Pure cotton, a nice weight , full length, a colourfast bright pink and very cosy. It has gone a bit 'endy' now but probably still has another year or two in it and for the price it has lasted well.

cheapskatemum · 02/01/2018 22:32

I got a Joules one from DS2 for Christmas. It has a pattern on it, base colour is cream. It is very cosy and mid calf length on me (I'm 5' 6" tall).

Any good?

mybrainhurtsalot · 02/01/2018 22:50

Cyberjammies? I’ve seen the brand in John Lewis but they also have a website. Quite a few reductions and they have different lengths and fabrics, e.g brushed cotton, modal, ordinary cotton etc. I think some of the prints are lovely:

I've just bought a lovely brushed cotton Cyberjammies one from the sale at House of Fraser. It was £26. It's not too thick but surprisingly warm and cosy. I love it! It's bright pink and red tartan.

Totally agree about wishy washy colours and static hair inducing synthetic fluffy things. Bleurgh.

Hmmm. It's cheaper on their own website, although you'd need to pay delivery I suppose. Damn you House of Fraser.

Unicorn81 · 02/01/2018 23:36

Debenhams? They do lands end too

AnotherWorry · 02/01/2018 23:40

Not sure if these colours are any good for you but my Cath Kidston dressing gown is mid calf, thick and cotton.

BagelGoesWalking · 02/01/2018 23:46

Can't stand synthetic either. I was given a White Company bathrobe (so maybe their dressing gowns are different) a while ago and, after a fairly short time, looked very scruffy.

I got a good one from John Lewis which has lasted well.

mybrainhurtsalot · 02/01/2018 23:55

Jonsey that’s the exact one I’ve been eyeing up. Feeling even more tempted now I’ve read your positive comments. I think it is free delivery and free returns on their website if you spend over £35.

TossDaily · 03/01/2018 04:21

Try the men's department in M&S.

I got a fab one in there yesterday. Navy blue plaid, brushed cotton, calf-length.

I've given up on women's dressing gowns. I don't want to look like a mobile sofa.

BagelGoesWalking · 03/01/2018 11:52

Same Toss why are they always in such pale colours? I want something that will hide the odd drip of tea until it gets washed. I bought a men's one although it's a bit heavier thank I wanted, just because it was dark blue.

calabalamuc · 03/01/2018 21:46

Awww thanks everyone - there were great suggestions here! I loved the look of the Bonsoir London robes. Why didn't I ask a few weeks ago when I was trying and failing to find something nice.

Well I have ordered the White Company in navy. Hope it doesn't go scruffy like Bagel's or I will be peed off at that price Confused. However I did find a 10% off voucher code and got cashback too, so not quite as pricey (guilty spender) Grin.

I dont usually spend a lot on clothes but my White Company dressing gown (£70) was money well spent as I’m wearing it three years later and it is still soft and washes well, no threads. Still looks good. So would recommend splashing out if you can afford to.
