Good, reasonably priced facial SPF

I've just got The Ordinary retinoid, so really need to get a decent facial sunscreen, but don't have a big budget. The one I've got at the moment is a sports neutrogena one I bought in the US, and it's really thick and drags.
I do have some M&S vouchers too, so any recommendations for there would be useful. Thanks!

I like the Simple SPF 50 one. I use it as a day moisturiser. It’s only about £7.

There is a spf 30 version too.

I use the body shop factor 50 along with TO products. I can't remember the price but there are usually decent offers on.

Roche Posay is my favourite

I get Biore Watery Gel from Korean beauty places. SPF 50+, it goes on light and leaves you dewy rather than oily or slimy. Very very slight white cast that soaks in gradually.

Lottapianos · 02/01/2018 09:09

Another vote for Biore Watery Essence. Very light so you will need a separate moisturiser if you have dry skin. Ambre Solaire Sensitive SPF 50 also very good and I find it rich enough on its own. No eye stinging with either of them

Firstaidnovice · 02/01/2018 09:52

Thanks all. I had it in my head (probably from mumsnet!), that a separate sunscreen and moisturiser was better, and that the spf in a moisturizer wasn't that effective? The biore one sounds good, I'll have a look

I would never use anything other than separate if you’re using retins

Firstaidnovice · 02/01/2018 10:15

Thanks. Also, I know we're supposed to use sunscreen every day, but what about a day like today, where it's very grey and I'm unlikely to be outside for more than ten minutes?

LRP Anthelios for me. If it's a grey day and I'm not going to be out much then I don't always bother. Not sunny and I am going to be out then SPF 30, any sunshine and SPF 50.

Crackedbutstillshiny · 02/01/2018 13:12

Ultrasun. It's fantastic and works well as a primer under make up as well. They sell it in M&S so can use your vouchers as well :)

Notonaschoolnight · 02/01/2018 13:16

Boots suncare has an All day range called Once which has a few face ones to choose from I use that spring to autumn

rightknockered · 02/01/2018 13:29

If you're using retin based products, you need a full sunscreen every day, even on dull days. I use LRP Anthelios 50+ every day, I also have the spray for spraying over my makeup every two hours.

Bambi75 · 02/01/2018 14:49

Sunsense daily tint spf50 is great and is non-comedogenic so great for wearing under make up x

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 02/01/2018 15:22

I'm on retins too and I use Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer spf 50+ in the day. It's slightly too rich to be perfect under full makeup but good in so many other ways.
