A Stylish trip to Paris

I'm taking my mum and dd (13) to Paris to see the Dior exhibition this week, it was a Christmas present (trying to encourage everyone to value experiences over things). Haven't been for a few years and wondering if anyone has any suggestions for shopping/eating/seeing?

I want to buy bedlinen from Merci, and I'm looking forward to seeing dd's eyes popping out of their sockets when she sees Galeries Lafayette 😂

Staying in the 1er arrondisment, hoping to get to the Orangery and maybe Musee D'Orsay. Don't want to do too much walking for fear of grumpy mother and daughter!

We'd love to go to Versailles, maybe on Sunday before we fly home that night, but might have to see what the energy levels/weather are like.

I'd love to hear your suggestions, especially for eating with gluten intolerant dm. Thanks😊

Noglu is great for gluten free in Passage des Panorames in the 2nd. There’s also a great gluten free bakery Chambelland in rue Ternaux in the 11th which has a cafe attached. I think Versailles would be freezing in January - I wouldn’t bother if just here for a few days. So many lovely things to see intra muros without schlepping all the way over there. this might be a good alternative if you’ve never been.

Thanks Lillian, that looks beautiful, I've never been, I think we'd all enjoy it.

Thanks for the cafe and bakery too. Both dm and dd tend towards grumpiness when hungry so that is to be avoided at all costs, not so easy when you can't duck into the nearest cafe for a crepe!

Buy your Dior tickets ahead and get there first thing in the morning it's extremely busy. The Yves Saint Laurent museum recently opened, so may also be worth a visit. The MoMA is visiting at the Foundation Louis Vuitton. The Musee Quay Branly is also well worth a visit on the architecture alone.

Whilst Galleries Lafayette is an impressive sight, Citadium is a younger geared department store with highly coveted brands for the young. Le Bon Marche is a lot more impressive for all the clothes they carry and how easily and relaxed you can come up close and admire it all. A lot less overrun by tourists as well.

Exki is a Belgian health food chain and they're scattered all over the city, they have several GF options and it's all clearly marked. Season (great for brunch or lunch) has a few cafes around the Marais and I think they're completely GF. The organic market in St Germain will most likely also have something to cater to GF.

Fantastic, thanks Botemp
