Help, what's this called (long shot)

Not sure if anyone can help?

Was in FatFace yesterday and saw a woollen type formal ish men's jacket that had like a pocket at the front, by the buttons that you could "slip" an arm into. In position, it would look like Nelson. Can't think of another way to describe it!

I've looked on the website but it's not there and if I google "Jackets with arm pocket" or similar I just get bomber type jackets with pockets ON the arms as opposed to FOR the arm, if that makes sense?

Anyone know what this style is called or what I should be googling? I can't even link anything to show you Confused

Yes, liked tucked in. But in a normal jacket configuration. I'd have bought the one I saw only it was to house the right arm and I would need the left. Just not sure what words to use to search

this one has a pocket on the chest

Shakey15000 · 31/12/2017 09:23

Saw that one Toss, thanks. But it's too high sadly. The one I saw was just above waist.

DH has a chronic condition called CRPS in his left arm. The last couple of years he's taken to slotting his arm inside his coat/jacket to protect it but does it by resting it on the zip. The pocket would be more comfy for him Sad

Strange it's not on the website. Was it in the sale?

Shakey15000 · 31/12/2017 09:43

Yes, it was £55. I thought that too and tried to filter then trawled through 400 odd items!

Anyway the FatFace one is on the wrong side so unsuitable.

Just wondered if there was a known phrase to use when searching for similar

I wonder if you could get him a jacket or coat he likes and ask a dressmaker or tailor to insert a pocket?

Shakey15000 · 31/12/2017 10:32

Good idea Brown thanks

Think they are handwarmer pockets often on shooting type jackets

KimKsButt · 31/12/2017 12:01

I know the type tou mean, I’d bet good money though that most come with the pocket on the right hand side. I’m a lefty and nothing is geared up for us

If it's this sort of thing, I think it's a hand warmer pocket as a Torwen said. This is Barbour but other outdoorsy suppliers do them too, they seem to be all for huntin' fishin' and shootin' types.

They're literally just called "handwarmer pockets". Lots of Barbour jackets have them but obviously Barbour is £££.

Nixee2231 · 31/12/2017 14:02

The deep pockets in front of hoodies that you can stick both pockets are called kangaroo pockets. Perhaps that applies to jackets as well?

This Barbour is in the sale with double hand warmer pockets. Not much on sale mind, but Outdoor and Country is usually where you find the Barbours at less than retail outside of outlets. They always have a sale on.

This one has the pockets slightly lower as it's a longer jacket. Might be comfier.
