I'm mid -late thirties, always been a bit slap dash with the skincare and makeup and have all of a sudden woken up looking haggard, old and most of all a funny colour I can't seem to cover up.
I have always used (dove) soap to clean, cold water to tone and cheap dove or Nivea day cream. Makeup has been foundation (usually rimmel or likewise), blusher, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, lipstick and gloss. The last few years I've been doing eyebrows too. Until fairly recently I would have thought it all looked ok.
Around a month ago I found that no matter how much blending I was doing with a sponge, my roundation wasn't settling right. My pores can't be covered, and my skin in very red, mottly, lots of spider veins etc.
Anyone have any (cheap) ideas for some kind of 'photoshop/blurring' effect for my skin? I really don't have a huge budget and am very intimidated by the 'counters' so Would appreciate some off the shelf suggestions.
TIA. !!
(In the past when I've tried different things, anything 'anti ageing' has seemed to have a ton of glittery shimmery stuff , keen to avoid that)

Aaah you've got to the age where you can no longer get away with just using whatever!

You need to get yourself a proper cleanser - I like the hot cloth ones, M&S do a lovely hydrating one in their Formula range for about £10. And double cleanse after makeup, so take it off with a wipe for example (I like the Superdrug micellar wipes) then use your hot cloth cleanser.

Then you need some decent moisturiser etc. Have a look on Victoria health at The Ordinary range - they're affordable and effective products. So you could get the gycolic toner (will help with dullness), the argireline (sooooo fab, described as Botox in a bottle! Really lifting effect) and then maybe the natural moisturising factors or hylauronic acid as a moisturiser.

When you've sorted your skincare you'll find your skin will look brighter and plumper and makeup will go on better. You could get a makeup primer aswell if you wanted, the ordinary do two, my favourite is the high spreadability one.

Oooh forgot an eye cream. I'd recommend the caffeine solution from the ordinary (fab for bags and dark circles) and/or the oils of life eye gel cream from body shop.
