Don’t know where to start

As per the title, I’m determined to look better next year, but have no idea where to start. I only wear lipstick at present but would like to wear make up more often. I have rosacea and use dermalex for this, but other than that have no skincare routine.

Have had a few shitty years with the death of both parents and feel now is the time to spend a bit of time on myself.

I am very overweight and plan to lose weight next year and just generally want to look well groomed. I do have some nice clothes, and some lovely Duo boots so not totally starting from scratch in this area.

I’m 52 and look all of those years at the moment so would appreciate some guidance from you all. Am expecting a bonus shortly so don’t mind spending a bit of money.

Thanks in advance.

2018 is your year!
I was reading about The Ordinary skin care range today, and they mentioned rosacea. Have a look on Victoria Health website. I find info on their products really complex, but a friend emailed them with a summary of her skin problems/ wishes, and they advised a regime . it's not expensive, ethical, and has rave reviews.

I recommend an eyeshadow primer like Urban Decay potion primer, a neutral pallette, and a decent mascara. The Natural Collection mascara is actually very good. I look so much more awake with a light colour on the lid, a slightly darker grey or brown in the crease, and mascara.

It doesn't have to be an expensive brand but I have used and used my Urban Decay Naked 2.

I learned how to apply eyeshadow from Lisa Eldridge on YouTube.

start with a good bra get measured by bravisimmo or rigby and pellar. then buy clothes which you find beautiful/cool and wear them with a smile on your face
that's literally all there is to it good luck xx

hi
i am the same age and found having my colours done over 10 years ago was the best money ever spent. Cost then over £100 but knowing what colours and makeup suits really is the way forward and saves alot of time esp in the sales. Also booking an apt with a personal stylist would really help. They do all the work for you and you dont have to buy everything on the rail its really a pleasant experience - Debenhams are good
good luck and best wishes
xx

I got friends and family to chip in for a House of Colour analysis a few a years ago and it totally changed my life. Overstatement? Not really, it was incredible. Found out which colours suit me best, my style and which necklines/hemline etc to go for, makeup, everything. Wonderful. Made fashion and make up and shopping (a bit) fun instead of this mysterious thing every other woman but me seemed to enjoy.
