Help with work wear for an odd job.

I have a new job (hooray!) but I'm a bit stumped regarding what to wear.
It's a new role, so I didn't have anyone to copy.
It's mainly office based, but at a visitor attraction where I will be going outdoors and commuting too.
So any ideas for office wear to move about in and smart boots to stay warm?
Also I'm a size 12/14 so can't really get away with the lovely shirt tucked into trousers look. Actually I just look dreadful in any trousers.
It's a management job, so I need to look smart enough for meetings too. Bit tricky really.

Never thought I would be asking Mumsnet to dress me. Blush

All my male counterparts were suits. I don't suit suits.

Ah ffs sorry about the crazy link

Tea dress, thick tights, cardigan, flat boots.

Congratulations.

What's your normal style?

Ps might be better with this on the style and beauty board

jessicajaine01 · 29/12/2017 21:44

Black trousers, jumper with shirt underneath . If you do all black with mayb white shirt its safe, slimming and you wont need to worry about standing out :)

PlumFairy2014 · 29/12/2017 22:05

Thanks for the link fussy, some strong looks there.
My normal style is boots and wrap dresses blue, so I will stick with it and smarten it up.
I think I wanted someone to tell me it was ok to go dress and boots. My first full time job since DD and I'm quite nervous.

Wasn't too worried about standing out jessica. I wil be doing a lot of taking to groups and teams, so it isn't really an option!

Gertie !!! What a great idea. Thanks. Spent the last year in a 13th century property, would have been perfect. Smile

Congratulations on the job! I second asking for your thread to be moved to style & beauty

Hi PlumFairy2014 . We hope you don't mind us popping on to your thread like this but it's been suggested that you might get more of a response in Style and Beauty and we'd have to agree.

We're going to move it over there now. Hope you get some useful advice and best of luck with the new job!

Xmas Smile

I wear dresses and boots a lot. If I need to be a bit smarter, I wear a plain dress with a jacket over.
Long sleeve dresses in winter if I can, vest and Lycra or knitted tights to keep warm if it's cold.
If you need to go outside, smart coat over with a scarf if needed.
Job done.

Thanks MNHQ. Grin
