Babyliss sheer volume rotating brush - any good?

Hot off the back of the bbh thread Grin

Are the sheer volume rotating brushes any good? I used to have a bbh and loved it till it died and never got round to replacing.

I've noticed that recently my hair is more frizzy round the root line when I blow dry.

I have fine, layered long hair. Will this give me voluminous root lift and bouncy hair? Grin

I love mine.

Brighteyes27 · 28/12/2017 19:34

How easy is it to use compared to BBH and is it easy to use and provides good results for curls and straightening.

LittleMysMoominMamma · 28/12/2017 20:10

I stopped using the BBH as I realised it was causing my hair to snap. Switched to the Sheer Volume Rotating Brush and its so much quicker - I can rough dry my hair then finish with this in about 5 minutes without any of the pulling and snagging I associated with the BBH. Its great for smoothing and giving volume at roots and flicking ends etc,, but too big to use for curls (my hair is shoulder length).
I love it so much I bough a spare yesterday as they were on Amazon for £45!

Have just bought one.
I'll report back once it's arrived.

Does anyone find theirs really slow to rotate?

deptfordgirl · 29/12/2017 15:06

I have one! They have amazing reviews but I haven't been able to make mine work yet. Am hoping this thread will teach me to use it probably.

doublelemsip · 29/12/2017 16:11

I'm a sucker for anything that promises volume. How is it different to a BBH?

Loonoonow · 29/12/2017 16:50

I prefer the Sheer Volume for the same reason as LittleMy. It is much gentler on the hair than the Big Hair. I also find it gives a smoother finish with less frizz.

I either blast dry my hair with a dryer and finish with the SV or if I have time, allow my hair to airdry and style with the SV the next day.

YolandasFridge · 29/12/2017 18:14

Following with interest, love my BBH but they don't last, think I'm on my 3rd and it's going to die soon, it stinks of smoke!
Is this an improved version? I also get root frizz on otherwise straight hair

Wishingandwaiting · 29/12/2017 18:15

Long thick hair here
I love it!

doublelemsip · 29/12/2017 18:21

I've been searching for youtube videos but can't find any.
Chin length, straight lank bob here, will it give me root lift?

CointreauVersial · 29/12/2017 18:28

How is it different from the BBH?

Piratesandpants · 29/12/2017 18:36

The problem with my BBH is that the bristles aren’t strong enough for my hair and they tend to flatten. Are they stronger on the sheer volume?

Halojones2014 · 29/12/2017 18:58

It’s basically a tong with silicone bristles and three heat settings - 160,180,200. The bristles are much harder than the BBH.

sycamore54321 · 29/12/2017 19:03

Does it blow hot air or is it just that the surfaces of it heat up?

Halojones2014 · 29/12/2017 19:11

No hot air. It heats up like a tong.

skunkrat · 29/12/2017 20:05

I would rate it for volume I was a bit evangelical about it for first uses

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 29/12/2017 20:10

Love mine 💛

HeyMacWey · 02/01/2018 20:55

It's arrived and I'm not overly impressed.
I'm going to return it.

It doesn't seem to give long lasting lift - I used it on the hottest setting. I have dead straight fine hair and was really hoping this would give me some body.

I think it would work well if you had wavy hair.

The only thing that works so far too give me any body is a wider curling wand and then wait for it to drop a little.

HeyMacWey

Don't be too hasty. Don't try and use it like the BH or a traditional dryer but give it a couple more tries using it more like an ordinary hairbrush with the rotation going.

So rough dry in whatever way suits you, make sure it is fully dry and then section into 4/6 areas. Brush against the growth pattern using rotation and concentrating at the root. When you have the root lift you want , rotate the brush through the ends in whatever direction you prefer to give a finished look.

HeyMacWey · 02/01/2018 21:38

When you say brush against the growth pattern what do you mean?
