God running sports bra that isn't £40?!

Where can I find a rock solid sports bra (30FF, dress size 12-14), for running and aerobics, that isn't the best part of £40?!

Also am I better off buying my actual size or should I go for, e.g., 32F instead?

To be honest I think you’ll struggle to get anything decent for under £40ish, though do keep an eye on the sales over the next couple of weeks.

I am a similar size and swear by the panache underwired sports bra. I have a couple mostly for running, cross training etc. I find this better than the shock absorber which is fine for yoga/pilates etc but (for me at least) doesn’t feel as secure as the panache. Loads of people love the shock absorber sports bras though and they do tend to be slightly cheaper.

Size-wise go for your normal size (or even slightly smaller in the band if you can bear it) generally the tighter the fit the better.

Wiggle have a sale on. I bought a couple of different models of Shock Absorber bras- both at very good prices. If you don't mind which colour you are likely to get a bargain.

StylishDuck · 26/12/2017 22:39

I rate shock absorber bras. I'm a 36G so need a firm one too. You can get them on ebay for around £25.

happylantern · 26/12/2017 22:42

Try TK Maxx for Shock Absorber ones at a bit of a discount Smile

clary · 26/12/2017 22:43

I am 30G and i like this one www.bravissimo.com/products/non-wired-sports-bra-cobalt-pr101clt/ which is £34 in the sale. I prefer no wire for running.

I find they size small. So I tend to go up a band size otherwise can't fasten them up.

reetgood · 26/12/2017 22:45

Stalk the sales. I wear a Dd and tbh I’ve found it’s not worth comprising. My preferred is shock absorber, you need the ultimate running or classic d+ rather than their lighter support.

reetgood · 26/12/2017 22:46

Wear your normal size (if you’re confident it’s right)

BloodyWorried · 26/12/2017 22:47

Classic Shockabsorber bra; buy from Debenhams / BoobyDoo online. Look at the fit of the bra, the one with two sets of hooks, one half way down and one in the normal place work best, it feels more comfortable and far more supportive (and not the one with swim suit clasps but two sets of normal bra hooks).

Southernc0mfortmirror · 26/12/2017 22:49

I got a great one in the M&S sale a few years ago. Nothing moves when I’m running. Can’t remember how much exactly but I’m sure it was less than £15.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 26/12/2017 22:51

I don't. I find them all uncomfortable. I am a 32H and I wear a Freya underwired t shirt bra which converts to a racerback, with a sports crop top over the top of it. If anyone can point me to anything better which is smooth, supportive and comfy, have at it!

Korez · 26/12/2017 22:51

Shock absorber ultimate run is the only sports bra I'm happy running in (36G), normally pick them up on eBay around £22-25...

Korez · 26/12/2017 22:54

This is the one.. sometimes a lot cheaper too..

Sports Direct Nike crop top high impact bras. I am a 36 DD and wear a medium. For £19 can't complain and comfortable for half marathons.

tulipz · 26/12/2017 23:13

i have just bought shock absorbers new from shops on ebay, was around £14

CointreauVersial · 26/12/2017 23:40

I bought a great one in the M&S Sale earlier in the year.

BWatchWatcher · 27/12/2017 00:37

Wiggle shock absorbers!

Star2018 · 27/12/2017 12:03

Thank you all, going to try M&S and Wiggle!

I used to buy expensive sports bras, but was never very happy with them. When I was first pregnant, a friend gave me an amazing tip to try wearing 2 sports bras. Now I always buy cheap sports direct bras, and double up. Much more effective than my old shock absorbers etc.

VivaLeBeaver · 27/12/2017 15:46

Syrokan high impact sports bra. £15 on Amazon

Have spent so much money over the years trying to find a decent sports bra. Am usually a pretty wobbly 32E (though am currently pregnant and wearing a 32G) and have struggled to find anything that gives full support without the monoboob/flattening effect. Most sports bras (including more expensive brands) are crap for women with bigger boobs in my experience. Often they are cut too low so you get horrible smushed together cleavage and the top part of your boobs still bounces even if the rest is supported properly. The only way I could get good support was wearing 2 at the same time as PP have suggested. But I never found. Burning with an even vaguely flattering shape.
However, earlier this year I finally found this holy grail of a bra: www.boobydoo.co.uk/review/product/list/id/9221/?limit=50
It holds you firmly, no bounce whatsoever, but also lifts and separates like a normal bra. My boobs now look the perkiest they have in years and I often wear it as an everyday bra as it is so bloody comfy. It even has a minimising effect without flattening.
It is £32 but so very worth it I promise!
