Beautiful Dubarry boots. Can't get them on/off!

DH gave me a pair of Dubarry Longford boots for Christmas.
Absolutely love them, fit is reasonably good when on and I assume they will give a bit as leather but dear God, getting them on and off!
Is this normal?
I think I would be classed as having slim calves and ankles so cannot just be me.
Anyone else struggle?

I have some Galways and found that when they first came they were tight as despite having slim ankles my arches and instep are high. Putting them on and off and on and off whist wearing tights was my saviour; they stretched after a day or two and now they're the most comfortable thing I own.

Thank you for this thread!!! I got some Galways in November, perfect fit but only once they’re on! Like others have said, it’s navigating your foot around the ankle junction. They’re getting slightly better- one foot is an issue for me and the other is fine. I might try the shoe horn thing for getting them off though

OP..I was looking for the perfect pair of everyday boots for years and could neve figure why any I tried on were always so difficult to get on. My feet and calfs are just at the end of the 'normal' range so couldn't figure it.

Then I saw a website that sold boots (was a link from S+B) and had a how to measure guide with foot size, width calf size and instep.

I always knew I had high arches but had never realise this was what was making my feet appear to big to fit into boots

I have found my kindred spirits here !
DH got me these -

http://www.dubarryboots.com/womens-footwear/country-boots/dubarry-glanmire-womens-country-boot

And I was panicking they were going to be unloved and unworn for the same reason!

But I actually had tried them on in a fab store where the lady introduced me to the carrier bag trick and seemed unphased at how hard they were to get on - she said about 30% of people need the carrier bags at first .
It's definitely the high instep. ( though I do not have slim calves either !)

Anyway I am picking low friction clothes - e.g. Leggings are much better than jeans , thin socks and using spoons in the boot pulls !
I have worn them every day and starting to love them already .
Might have to get the boot jack too !!

Keep the faith OP Smile

I’m experiencing the same! My husband got me the Longford dubarry boots, I ve always being size 5 so he got me size 5, they fit perfectly, I mean u can walk for hours, but wow! I’m afraid to remove them! We really struggled first time trying to take them off, now I’ve learned to use the corner of the steps to do it myself but I’m still struggling... did it got any better for you after a while?
