Returning stuff to Shein

Weeviv · 19/12/2017 17:14

I have just been reading the, to me, surprisingly positive reviews of Shein clothing in other threads. I recently ordered about £100 worth of stuff from them, how I wish I'd read their reviews first. The clothes are poor quality, should have realised this from the price. But returning them is a nightmare. There are size and weight restrictions on the return parcel, which means I had to pay for 2 return labels to send 2 separate parcels. It then proved impossible to fit the clothes (bulky fleece coats) into 2 parcels which complied with the restrictions. They were either too heavy or too large, because of the coat bulk. I can't use the original box because it's both too large and too heavy. Also they suggested in an email that the PO might not accept the return paid label. I have had a lengthy email correspondence with them and it's not resolved. To be fair, they do return emails promptly. Please think very carefully before you buy. If you are not happy with the quality and need to return a bulky item, be prepared to spend time and energy. I think I am going to have to give upon this having spent hours trying to repack the clothes to comply with the requirements.

I am also having a nightmare returning to Shein for my daughter. The return label they provide was scanned at Post office and parcel got returned to me. Post office can't scan the barcode they are asked to and the QR code on the label means parcel gets returned to us!
Tried contacting customer services but its all automated so cant answer your question. I have also read on their website that the return address is not the return address (hence I guess the problems above). How can this be?
Daughter, 18 was pleased with the clothes but this return business is proving to be a nightmare.... and good old mum is trying to sort it!!

AnnieM1968 · 06/07/2020 10:32

Hi
Im having the same problem today.
You're right, the return address is not correct and the company is listed as dormant at that address.
I have emailed instead to:
[email protected]
Fingers crossed.

Gosh so unlucky, i use Shein a lot and have only had a couple of not so good items, the rest have been great.

Lillibet12 · 07/11/2020 11:26

Hello I recently purchased a pair of jeans and first time I had them on the zip broke! I contacted Shein via email to ask if it was ok for me to return to them in the usual way and they never got back to me! I’m now chancing returning them in the hope that they will refund me. I’ve not been able to make any other contact with them. Would never purchase anything from them again!

They have great items same as H&M etc... they have good things and bad ones, you got to look at the description of the item and the reviews. I always get cotton items and never been disappointed, its great quality. "You get what you paid for" really is a saying that goes with Shein, if the price looks too good to be true. Maybe it is true "that good" ...

Sheila2022 · 02/05/2022 10:25

Hi all
i am also having a nightmare with SHEIN. The policy says return after 30 days of receipt but it has been 16 and it won’t allow me create a return online it says the time has exceeded. Have you all been returning within 14 days?
Thanks,
sheila.

Dinotastic · 02/05/2022 22:47

Nobody should be buying from Shein - they’re disastrous from an ethical point of view (and their clothes look horrific anyway). There are many superior low-cost options, including second-hand.

BettyFilous · 02/05/2022 22:57

If you look at their operating model and how they manage their deliveries, you see why they discourage returns. It’s bad.

Fast fashion’s carbon footprint is too big to ignore

It’s Chinese. It’s based in China. Why would anyone think cheap rubbish is worth buying with the carbon footprint this represents? Awful company but cheap tat is what people want.

PumpkinsandKittens · 03/05/2022 08:50

everything I’ve bought off there has been great, and good sizes, I only buy for my kids though and would not spend loads of money on there anyway and wouldn’t bother trying to return things...

Roystonv · 03/05/2022 09:18

I have used them and surprisingly had no problem returning just as easy and quick as m and s say with quick refund. I need to wear pure cotton only in the summer and most other places are £45 + for tips and I can't afford that.

Invisimamma · 03/05/2022 09:26

I've done a few orders with shein recently and returns have been quick and easy. Standard clothing though, not bulky items.

The quality is questionable so you are taking a gamble but if you read the reviews and look at photos of other people wearing the item that helps. I've had a few nice dresses from them.

I'm on a budget, is it any worse than shopping in Primark?

TheTeddyBears · 03/05/2022 10:36

Yeah the quality is pretty poor on some items and the sizing isn't great either. I hope you manage to return the items.

I order quite a few pairs of leggings. 2 fitted nicely, 1 pair I ordered XS as reviews were generous and others I ordered S and apart from one pair that fitted they were all a bit baggy of the legs. I looked into returning but then found out that some were final sale 🤷🏻‍♀️ and I cld only return one of the others so for sake of a fiver I didn't bother. I haven't bought any more clothes from them since lol.

I do buy accessories, hair items for my girls and beautiful frilly socks for my 2yr old. I've heard the makeup is good so I've just ordered some foundation samples and little sponges.

getsomehelp · 03/05/2022 10:37

IME, Shein is absolute tat.
I put all my items in the Red Cross bin, it was junk, sizes wrong, material horrible, (leather mocassins plastic)
Sending back was another trip across the planet
Lesson learned

TizerorFizz · 04/05/2022 14:10

When we visited China a few years ago we talked to our guide about on line shopping. I told her we had high street shops such as M&S and John Lewis that sold you the same products on line as you found in their shops. She was amazed. In China it’s normal for on line shops to sell you something very different from the garment you see and the details accompanying it. Chinese buyers don’t have our consumer laws. Why anyone trusts stores like Shein is beyond me.

Cotton tops are not all £45 here. That’s utter rubbish. I think Primark is poor too. No one is paid a decent wage at these low prices. Buy better and buy less.

You do know that makeup from or for the Chinese market is still tested on animals?

There's no need for this other than China insists on it.

TizerorFizz · 04/05/2022 16:48

@KimikosNightmare
Unfortunately cheap prices rule. Chinese make up good? Probably more leggings equivalent for the land fill!
