Yes definitely - avene are another good brand.

www.laroche-posay.co.uk/face/skin-concern/dry-skin these should be good for her.

What is she using currently to wash her face?

HeyMacWey · 19/12/2017 14:13

Or this range: www.laroche-posay.co.uk/face/skin-concern/sensitive-skin-allergic-skin

penguinowl · 19/12/2017 16:18

HeyMacWey she currently just started using Cerave to wash with and that seems ok and doesn't irritate, her skin is very sensitive but I think a lot of that is because it's so dry that things sting, it's early days using it but so far it seems good.

I want to try and keep things simple so was hoping just a good face wash and a good cream to combat the dryness. She gets a few spots like most teens but nothing major

Is this range good for dehydrated? My skin is very dehydrated rather than dry and I'm still trying to find the perfect products

Hi
I have very reactive/sensitive very dry skin and tried for a long time to find a moisturiser that would suit. I now use la Roche posay toleriane riche and it has been a revelation. My skin has never been so settled and moisturised. It also gives a good base for make up and keeps my skin moisturised for the full day.

ElspethFlashman · 19/12/2017 16:29

I'm very fond of the Cicaplast stuff from LRP. Actually they have just brought out an spf50 version which I bought today as it happens! Originally created for people who had chemical peels to soothe their faces afterwards.

The Tolereine has v v good reviews too though.

OuchLegoHurts · 19/12/2017 16:32

My skin is very dry but I didn't want a greasy cream, and I find La Roche Posay Nutritic Intense Riche absolutely brilliant. It is so hydrating yet not oily at all and it cleared up my dry patches miraculously. If you get her a gentle exfoliating cleanser (I find St Ives natural apricot scrub great) and then she uses the cream afterwards she should notice a real improvement in the flakiness.

Ofgreetingsandgoodbyes · 19/12/2017 17:32

LRP Toleriane range is good, as is Avene Extremely Gentle Cleanser and Skin Recovery Cream. I use the Avene Cleanser with water rather than with cotton wool like it says on the bottle and it's fab.

(Avoid exfoliants with grit in- they're not even good for normal skin- for sensitive skin they are terrible! Just using a flannel can be a bit much when my skin is dry and sensitive, let alone anything harsher!)

Ofgreetingsandgoodbyes · 19/12/2017 17:33

If you are after a good hydrating Serum (for either of you) the Superdrug Pure Hydrating Serum is lovely and very cheap.

Tiredpigeon · 19/12/2017 17:38

LEO Toleriane cleanser is great as is the spray. I used Avene for years but they have changed the formula now and it makes my skin react. I can't tolerate LRP Toleriane moisturiser for more than a couple of days but I do find Eucerin fantastic...no reaction and smooth, happy skin

Cakescakescakes · 19/12/2017 17:39

Yes the Toleriane range is really superb for dry and sensitive skin. They do cleansers, moisturisers etc. Excellent products. If she is flaky then a gentle exfoliator may help too.

Cakescakescakes · 19/12/2017 17:43

Also something like this to dab into blemishes as they appear rather than using a harsh product all over.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 19/12/2017 21:39

Toleriane is good I agree.

Good Skin gel cleanser would be nice on her skin as it’s dry - it’s a gel to oil formula. It’s cheaper as well.

lauramcr · 20/12/2017 05:45

Imo this brand is better suited towards acne prone skin, but you can try:

  • Sensitive Skin Micellar water
  • Anthelios Ultra-Light Sun Cream Fluid SPF 50+
  • Toleriane Ultra Moisturiser Sensitive Skin

There’s her basic skincare routine of cleanser, spf and moisturiser sorted.

You can also try Eucerin, sold in boots which is better suited:

  • Eucerin Dry Skin Relief Face Cream 5% Urea
  • Eucerin Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm (use as a hydrating treatment)

Also look into Liz Earle’s starter set for dry skin, which includes their gentle hot cloth cream cleanser, toner, moisturiser and mask.

Cakescakescakes · 20/12/2017 13:57

lauramcr the Effaclar range yes is certainly more for acne prone skin but the wider LRP range has loads of products for all skin types. I have never had acne and really love the Toleriane products as they are gentle yet very effective on my very sensitive skin.

CottonSock · 20/12/2017 13:59

Mineral make up is good for sensitive skin too

penguinowl · 20/12/2017 20:38

Thank you for all the recommendations, I will read through them all then choose something that will hopefully work, I remember myself have awful dry skin at her age also and remember how much I hated the flakyness
