Are these Mum boots or just wrong boots or could they be ok boots?

I was looking for Chelsea Boots but they were making my feet look so long. These are a bit higher.

They are to wear with skinnies mainly and biker jacket/grey wool boyfriend coat. My style is pretty minimal.

They are from Clark’s I’m doubting my purchase...

That mum boot is “slouchy” in “style”. Beyond dreadful.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/12/2017 20:10

I detest the phrase 'mum boots'. I like them.

fishonabicycle · 13/12/2017 20:25

They are great! Can anyone post a pic of a mum boot?

I have them. They are not mum boots. I tend towards goth as my clothing style and they go with everything!

MrsNathanDrake · 13/12/2017 22:07

I bought a pair last week. I am living in them; they are so comfy. I wouldn't have called them mum boots, but maybe I'm just getting on a bit! I wear them with jeans, work trousers, leggings and tunics and dresses and tights and the boots work every time both in terms of comfort and style.

zippyswife · 14/12/2017 11:32

Thanks for the feedback. I’m going to keep them!

In fashion terms a mum boot is something like this:

WhooooAmI24601 · 14/12/2017 12:17

ofthread My Mum lives in boots like this, generally with those kinds of clothes, too. She's eccentric in her clothing for sure, and her shoes are unquestionably awful. She's great taste in bags, though, so it's swings and roundabouts.

I like those! I may try them on next time I’m near Debenhams. Love the Navy 👍

zippyswife · 14/12/2017 13:32

Yes the navy is really lovely actually but I wonder if I have too much navy in my wardrobe so went fit the Black.

I have these in the black and the burgundy - I like them!

suchatiredbunny · 14/12/2017 17:09

I bought these in the burgundy last year, came up small so needed to get the wide fit. They look good with jeans, and are comfy but one of the heels has developed a squeak so I can wear them anywhere too quiet! Grin

MiniCooperLover · 16/12/2017 18:11

I got them !! Love them 👍

They are not mum boots at all.
You may wear wafts hand loftily

Hollyhobgoblin · 17/12/2017 07:46

I have those in brown. They are lovely, but the tops cut into my ankles so I can only wear them for an hour max. Not mum boots.

dudsville · 17/12/2017 08:32

I'm not up on what a "mum boot" is at the moment, but these look like "standard everyday wear, throw them on and head out boots". Or SEWTTOAHOB.... as I like to call it.

Hoppinggreen · 17/12/2017 08:34

I’ve got those, really comfy

MargotLovedTom1 · 17/12/2017 08:38

I have the burgundy ones; I also have the Orinoco long boots and DD has the lace up version. Comfiest boots and not frumpy at all.

Fairylea · 17/12/2017 08:39

I have these. They’re so comfy!

AuntieStella · 17/12/2017 08:40

I always think those boring ones by Ash are Mum boots, plus many other 'safe' ankle boots. Or biker books that are actually mainstream (slightly wimpy) shadows of any spirit of bike.

There is nothing wrong with owning safe, somewhat conservative, boots of that type when you need a sensible/hardwearing/practical pair,

meditrina · 17/12/2017 08:42

"standard everyday wear, throw them on and head out boots". Or SEWTTOAHOB.... as I like to call it"

You mean school-run boots

Saladtongs · 17/12/2017 09:47

I've put those Orinoco boots on my boxing day sales list as well as these Ugg Oriana boots, which are slightly more dressier & £££.
