Rouge or Marron? Lush Henna.

I'm thinking about going red again for the millionth time in my life and fancy trying henna. My hair is currently a lovely mix of grey roots, mid brown and lighter, slightly red ends Confused
I normally do a brown root stretch for a natural balayage kind of look.
I want it to look pretty natural and don't fancy really orange (been there, done that).
Has anyone used them? Any pictures of the colour results would be amazing. And tips for using it.
Suggestions of other henna products also gratefully received. Thanks.

I use variously natural henna powder (unbranded) and Lush Marron and Brun. I find the indigo in Marron and Brun doesn't take very well on my greys unless I have already hennaed them red (my natural hair is dark brown but with lots of grey at the front). The Lush stuff has to be quite hot to work - I crush the square in a bowl using hot water from the kettle (crushing can be quite time consuming) then put the bowl in a saucepan of boiling water. I leave it on my hair for at least two hours. The results with Marron/Brun are more natural-looking (I think) than red henna alone - a bit like you I do my roots with the darker stuff and leave the ends red-hennaed for amateur balayage!

I've read that you can get a similar effect by adding indigo to henna powder, so I'm thinking of trying this in the future, as the Lush product is pricey and harder to mix up in small amounts for just doing roots.

I use Lush henna and don't bother crushing it... Just melt it in a bain marie with some water. It works fine. I use a mix of marron & brun and come out with a fairly natural brown with red highlights from my grey hair... It's definitely a faff (I do it with a friend) but improves the condition of my hair amazingly well.

I use the Brown henna.
Grate it with the cheese grater, add boiling water and get it on quick, wrap it in cling film to keep warm and try and have a sauna again for heat.
Takes about 3 hours and my greys go golden brown like hi-lights.
I find it very convenient as there always seems to be a day when you wake up really grey and it's in the cupboard waiting.
Also get lots of housework done in three hours of not leaving the house.

Thanks everyone. I'm going to go to Lush tomorrow to see what they have.
