Lumie Clear

I have always suffered with spots on my chin, jawline, neck and upper chest. but over the last twelve months, it has been worse than ever.

Dianette (oral contraceptive that also treats acne), is the only thing that ever worked. I was on it from 18 to mid 30's when my gp refused to prescribe it any longer due to increased risk of dvt.

I am wondering if it is worth investing in the Lumie Clear, and would like to hear whether other MNers have found it beneficial.

Following. I too have long term hormonal acne issues and it always clears up a lot when I get some sun so wondered about this.

PS I am on Dianette via a private dermatologist who was happy to prescribe it as I have no risk factors. Not the cheapest route mind you.

I doubt they will prescribe it mini as I am a type 1 diabetic Sad. It is amazing, the only thing that worked for me.

I am going to make an appointment to see my gp next week and I am awaiting info from some private dermatologists.

We do have health insurance, so I am going to contact them to find out if this will be covered.

I have tried so many things over the years, I could not be totally sure if retinol is one of them or not.

The time commitment is definitely a downside of the lumie.

Moonlight if Dianette worked then it's worth looking at Spironolactone which has a similar (anti androgen) effect but is not a contraceptive and so may not have the same clotting risks. (I haven't looked at the risks tho). It's really helping me.

sarahj I am using a prescribed retinol gel. Perhaps it is back in stock? Might be worth checking with your GP if you want to restart it.

Thank you mini I will look into it.

I'm using my Christmas money for this www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B076BCDNCN/_encoding=UTF8?psc=1&coliid=I2HX6X0LVT7U9E&tag=mumsnetforum-21&colid=170VAT0KJSPCH

Red for collagen production
Blue for destroying acne
Green for hyper pigmentation. Forgot what the others are for.

I've got the neutrogena acne led mask & it's been brilliant but it runs on batteries & only has about 20 LEDs or so. The Amazon one has 150.

Works though. You can buy whole beds of red light led in America but I can't find them here, only red fluorescent which will emit uv & there's no point me using sunblock for 18 years & then sitting under uv.

I'm surprised more people haven't cottoned onto it.

There's cheaper ones that only do red, blue & green but yellows also good for anti aging so I want one with yellow.

Loads of reviews on YouTube.

I don't have a Lumie, but I do have cystic acne and a Neutrogena light mask. I wouldn't say that it cleared up my acne much at all, but it does reduce redness and inflammation. I would however add to the chorus of retinol gel above- I was started on Treclin gel (a retinoid and clindamycin) 2 weeks ago, and there's already a really significant improvement to my acne.
