Help me! Hair!

In my head, I'm 21 quite 'with-it' and can carry off any haircut/clothes/look.

In reality, I'm 36, have been breastfeeding for the past 5 years, 5'4'' and slightly dumpy (although I've quit sugar and aiming to lose 21 pounds by spring!).

I want to look young, fresh, edgy and pretty. My hair is currently long and DEAD - it's naturally strawberry blonde but I've highlighted it. I have pale skin and big eyes with dark circles and my cheekbones are okay. My face is oval-ish.

What do I do? Bob? Pixie? Balayage? Ombré? Darker? Platinum? Drastic? Subtle? I've attached a bad photo.

And...go!!!

Ah bum, I'm not allowed to post pics as I've deregistered and reregistered. You'll just have to guess from my skilful description.

PS my ears are very, ahem, curly (not enough cartilage) so a pixie might make me look like an actual pixie.

No photo! Love a MN makeover.

ACertainRatio · 08/12/2017 20:14

How do you wear your hair? Do you tie it back, wear it loose? Straighten it or is it curly or wavy? Do you want low maintenance? Would you be OK growing out a pixie cut if you didn't like it?

Is there a certain look you like or a celebrity who has roughly the same look?

MikeUniformMike · 08/12/2017 20:16

I want to see the curly ears? Are you sure they're not pointy?

ACertainRatio · 08/12/2017 20:19

I usually wear it down, it's got a very loose wave but just kinda hangs there. I'm good at plaits etc but they don't suit me really.

I've had it in almost a pixie before but I couldn't maintain it v well. I wouldn't be averse to giving it some attention of a morning. I would like a really nice job on the colour although I couldn't carry off dark: lowlights at best.

Celeb-wise, I love Lily Collins, Michelle Williams. I look more like Claire from Steps BlushBlushBlush

Also Léa Seydoux. I could be persuaded by a blunt bob, or layered collar length do with some balayage.

Is this thread a bit pointless since MN won't let me post a pic? Maybe I could update it when I'm allowed??

Your hair looks lovely and thick. What about a long layered bob that you can still tie up when needed?

DuruttiColumnist · 01/01/2018 14:01

Thank you bit it's thick and grows quickly! I'll Pinterest your idea 👍🏻

DuruttiColumnist · 01/01/2018 14:02

(Sorry NCed since posting! I'm the OP!)

RoseWhiteTips · 01/01/2018 15:51

Your hair is lovely.

Truthstar · 01/01/2018 18:42

Wow your hair is gorgeous!
I wouldn't change too much, just get a few treatments and a good cut to freshen it up and keep it in good condition. I wouldn't go any shorter than just below your shoulders and avoid a fringe. Go for natural looking waves to frame your face ... but that is great hair you have x

DuruttiColumnist · 01/01/2018 20:47

(OP here!)

I really wanted a fringe truth because I've got lines on my forehead Blush Botox, maybe?

Aridane · 06/01/2018 21:56

You have lovely hair!

Cakescakescakes · 06/01/2018 22:45

Get a fringe if you want one - sure the worst that will happen is that you’ll have to grow it out again. I had long curtainy hair for years and lopped it all off a couple of months ago to my shoulders and it is beyond liberating.
