And how do you use / apply them?

I am in need of help. My 40 something skin is looking tired and pasty. I have never been particularly girly and have muddled through adult life using basic foundation, powder and mascara. I feel the need to update myself and would love some advice on what products work best and also how to apply them. And all in a budget please if possible (not asking much I know Hmm )

Thank you

Naked skin one and done tinted moisturiser makes such a difference and is so easy to apply with fingers

Concentrate on getting skincare right before makeup - Sali Hughes or Caroline Hirons are a good starting. Borrow Sali Hughes first book from the library to educate yourself on the basics

^ Naked is from Urban Decay btw

Natural collection mascara is really good and only £1.99
I agree expensive mascaras not worth it. Expensive foundations/ tinted moisturisers can be worth it

I use be real techniques beauty blender as it's as good as the official one and a fraction of the price . It's a special sponge that you soak in water first , squeeze out all the water and then it's bouncy and soft. you use it to apply and blend foundation . For me it gives flawless results with minimal effort every time .

@Shantotto

If you struggle with the B.B. cream it might help if you put a drop of the ordinary rosehip oil (if you use that) with it and mix it on the back of your hand before applying.

Colour correcting pearls from HEMA.

Transformative stuff. Sorted my face out lovely.

I really, really recommend Bobbi Brown's eye corrector (NOT the concealer, which is too thick) - here. I have 5 minutes max to do my make up, so I keep it very simple, but the corrector is worth the time - it hides my dark circles and looks very natural. It's not cheap, but it lasts ages.

*Try some B.B. creams rather than foundation

  • add Hyaluronic Acid to hydrate & plump your skin
  • NYX & KIKO do good makeup and lipsticks
