Wrinkle and puffiness under one eye only

I've had this problem for a few weeks now and it's just my left eye. Not sure what is causing it as I'm not using anything new. I did notice some dry scaly skin under my left eye so used a tiny bit of hydrocortisone for a few days and it cleared up. I went back to using retinol (which I've been using for over a year) and its flared up again slightly but I have no reaction under my right eye.

I drink lots of water, get an average of 6-7 hours sleep a night, sleep on my back or right side (as far as I know) and wear sunscreen every day. I've had to give up concealer too, my favourite makeup product as I have dark circles and am feeling rather blue about it.

Are your sinuses ok?

My DD sometimes has a puffy eye/dark circles when hers are starting to play up.

My sinuses are a bit blocked of late, good point. But not sure why the other eye looks fine and this one is puffy and wrinkled. I might try two pillows at bedtime to see if that helps. Apparently if you sleep too flat then you can get puffy eyes.

Is your hair parted on one side - if so is the heavier side over the problem eye?

QueenOfTheAndals · 29/11/2017 14:41

It is but I don't know how that would cause it! This morning I found it hard to open that eye and it feels a bit swollen today so I'm hoping (!) it's just a mild infection and can be sorted out with drops.

Hopefully it's a minor infection as you say. In the meantime, there are some videos on Youtube that show lymphatic drainage self-massages around the eye. I am hoping that Santa will bring me a silk pillowcase which is also to help a bit.

*Meant to help...

Maybe it's an allergy. Are you by any means allergic to some food?

MsMcWoodle · 29/11/2017 15:31

Hi again. No - I don't know how it would cause it, either, but it did. Wish I had worked it out sooner. Also - don't have central heating on at night.

QueenOfTheAndals · 29/11/2017 19:36

Not as far as I know yasmin, although I do get hay fever from pollen and dust. Strange that the reaction would be just on one side if that's what it is

Go to your GP, it can be related to many different things, some minor some quite serious.
