Loss of skin elasticity around my eyes after sudden weight loss

I'm 29 and while suffering from a long term health condition I lost a lot of weight quite suddenly. I am recovering now and trying to regain the weight but I have been left with sort of loose skin round my eyes..maybe loose is the wrong word, just as I said it looks like a loss of elasticity. It isn't exactly wrinkly but looks older than it should if that makes sense. When I saw the gp over my health condition I mentioned it and she said the most likely caused was my sudden weight loss.

I drink a lot of water, fairly healthy lifestyle, try to eat good fats and so on, use eye creams but it isn't improving. I am happy to be on the mend healthwise but hate looking in the mirror and seeing this. It is the side of my eyes, where you would have crows feet. I think it is the same in the rest of my face to a degree but this is the worst area. The skin in that area particularly looks like that of a much older person. I feel like I've aged ahead of my time.

Is there anything I can do for it? A miracle product? I'd even explore Botox if this will help but I have no idea about this sort of thing. It's just really getting me down, I know that sounds vain but it is.

Thank you Smile

I have Botox for crows feet and it works a treat, however mine are age related not caused by weight loss and I don't know if that would effect the outcome. I am sure someone on here will know the answer and if not any reputable clinic will be able to advise you.

Well done on your weight loss.

Wanted to add, it's actually my whole body that I've noticed this sort of loss of elasticity in my skin, not just my face or that eye area. My face, especially the eye bit, are definitely the worst/most noticeable though.

Thank you linoo. The weight loss was intentional however. I went from being a healthy weight to quite underweight because of a health condition!

Oh sorry - I misunderstood. I hope you get back to where you want to be in health, weight and crows feet soon. Flowers

I think there is every chance it will improve on its own as you are so young. I found B12 helped it often is low after weight loss.

Badeyes77 · 25/11/2017 14:22

Thanks dusty. B12 is a supplement isn't it? My skin really is looking bad, compared to friends my age and even older. I hadnt thought of supplements and things.. are there any others anyone recommends? I feel like I need a miracle.

Marmite has B12 in it. Take it orally - wouldn't recommend it as eye cream.

JMAngel1 · 25/11/2017 15:36

Radiofrequency facial would tighten up the skin under eyes and all over the have in general.

Would a serum with hyalouronic acid in help? I think nip and gab have a sale still on now. Just to plump up the appearance.

TitaniasCloset · 25/11/2017 16:42

Nip&fab sorry

Badeyes77 · 29/11/2017 08:14

Thanks I'll get some of that nip and fab stuff and start eating more marmite. Thank you.

Hi, I feel a little awkward posting with recommendations when a) I have only just started the supplement so can't attest to its effectiveness and b) if you are recovering from an illness you should be especially careful what you put in your body, but I have just started taking MSM which is basically sulphur supplements (you can get from Holland and Barrett) which is supposed to improve the collagen in skin. I looked it up before trying and there is some evidence it works and I don't think it has any bad effects - might be worth trying? Also any creams with ceramides, which also improve collagen in skin might be worth looking into?
