Teeth whitening

Sooo teeth a slightly darker shade of white than I’d like. I’m not a smoker but drink a couple of cups of tea a day so they could do with a perk up.

Dentist charges £350 and I can’t justify that right before Christmas.

Anyone got any tips to get teeth pearly white?!

Nothing ‘over the counter’ will do much, because they’re not licenced to use the same strength of chemicals that dentists are. Most independent studies show little to no change with home kits, often it’s placebo

This stuff is the bomb. It removes stains which will brighten your teeth... it worked for me & im a huge coffee drinker. Use it only once or twice a week though & I find it works better with an electric toothbrush.

Crest whitening strips worked for me. Cheap and effective and didn't cause any sensitivity.

Look for a Groupon. I’ve had Zoom2 whitening done twice, very pleased with the results. Usually costs £99 or under.

corrianderisthedevil · 20/11/2017 09:51

Wow pretty that’s got to be worth a try for a £1!! Off I go to wilko me thinks. I’ve seen groupon deals but they all seem to be for the laser whitening and reviews I’ve read have been pretty poor. I am always tempted though.....and I’ve used crest whitening strips in the past quite a lot and they gave me terrible sensitivity 😬

Five minute whitening gel on Ebay really works. You need to leave it on for 20 mins twice a day.

Activated Charcoal Natural Teeth Whitening Powder works for me. I've only used it about 5 times and my teeth are noticeably whiter. I'm a black coffee drinker and was seriously surprised at the results.

Kochicoo · 20/11/2017 18:05

I've just been bought some of that activated charcoal powder (well, different brand cause it was £1 cheaper) from Amazon too and agree, I can really see a difference.

Pannacott · 20/11/2017 23:40

The Groupons I did (Zoom2 it was called) were laser, I was really pleased with the results. They didn’t look bright white, which I wouldn’t have wanted. They looked a bit brighter, cleaner and fresher. I had them done a few years apart.

Oil pulling - teaspoon of coconut oil and swish it around your mouth (tastes foul and you need to brush afterwards but it works)

Bicarbonate of soda & Activated charcoal - Both can be mixed with water to form a paste and used as a toothpaste - again you might want to rinse your mouth out after

ProseccoMamam · 20/11/2017 23:55

Oh and drink your coffee through a straw when possible even if you do feel like a dick, prevention is key and all that

corrianderisthedevil · 22/11/2017 14:44

I have tried oil pulling prosec and was nearly sick. I found the texture so horrible! Ive not even wanted to look at coconut oil since! Will have a look again at groupon and see what deals are on. In the mean time I have got wilko and bought some eucryl. It reminds me of my grandad! Used for the first time today and they definitely looked and felt more sparkly and clean. Thanks folks!

@corrianderisthedevil .... The eucryl does give a good clean & Polish if you use it once/twice a week. Don’t go overboard with it though as it’s not meant to be used daily. Once you’ve used it a few times you will notice teeth are whiter : ) Pleased you purchased Smile
