What Heat protection spray for hair

I have damaged hair due to colouring the grey I suppose and do not use straighteners and blow dry on medium heat but think it is time to start using something to protect from further damage.

Do they really work and what is a good one please?

I use the Treseme one, for no other reason than I was in the same situation as you, went to the supermarket and hot the one on offer.

Points in favour: good value, lasts really well, is doing what it needs to and protecting my hair
Points against: there may be something else on the market that is must-have-awesome ...

My hairdresser recommends Moroccan Oil and a spray if Wells Thermal heat protector. I’ve got dyed, fine hair and I think it helps a little (not as much as regular trims...).

Try one with no silicon in it. If you are dying your hair the heat will bake in the silicones and make the hair brittle and flat. Ingredients ending in 'cone' are silicones

Can you let your hair dry naturally and then just finish it off with a warm blast? Much healthier for your locks.

Kerastase cement thermique cream but is £££

Also try a nice conditioning mask. Philip Kingsley's Elasticiser Extreme does wonders for the texture of my dyed, knackered, heat-damaged mop.

Second vote for Kerastase Ciment Thermique. It smells lovely and I get much less heat damage than before I used it.
It is expensive but it lasts a while- you don’t need to use much. It’s cheaper on feel unique.

Thank you, I have just the Philip Kinglsey Elasticiser but it just made my hair greasy. I think I must have used too much.

I will try the Kerastase one I think.

The original Lee Stafford one is surprisingly excellent.

Whyarethebestnamestaken · 20/11/2017 18:20

Thank you, I will have a look at the Lee Stafford one too.

I like the Joico ones in the orange packaging, either the spray or the creamy pump serum.

I love the smell of ciment thermique but my scalp hates it (even though I don’t put it on my scalp). I get lumpy, itchy scalp.

I actually got one by Neal and Wolf from Amazon that has really good reviews so will have to see how it is although I suppose it takes months to know if it worked or not.

I recently had Olaplex at hairdressers so hoping that will help and have the No. 3 treatment to do at home.

Trying to attack the problem from all angles. Also tried letting hair dry naturally and just finishing off with hairdryer but looks a mess but must not be tempted to use straightening brush until I get the heat protector lol.
