11 year old with very dry eyelids

My DD has very dry eyelids - the skin is very dry with very small flaky bits.

I'm not sure what to put on her eyelids as don't want anything that will sting her eyes.

Any tips?

Vaseline shouldn't sting.

La Roche Posay do a soothing eye cream in their Toleriane range which is for allergic or hyper sensitive skin. I use it when I get eczema flare ups around my eyes.

I get exactly the same thing in the winter and swear by this - www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0056PIB5A/ref=pd_aw_lpo_121_bs_img_1?psc=1&tag=mumsnetforum-21&ie=UTF8&refRID=5V09K3039N7TM02W6V69

Stinks of hemp but I slather it on every night. No sign of any dryness or flakes within a couple of days of me using it and have been ever since in place of eye cream. No stinging or anything like that at all.

Castor oil is brilliant, safe to use on eyes and doesn’t gum up your eyeballs. I only say this because I tried coconut oil on my eyelids once and it hurt my eyes so much I had a headache.

Are her eyes watering?

I get this really badly too. The only thing that doesn't burn or sting for me is the Clinique rich eye cream. Pricey but it lasts for ever.

I would go to a doctor for this.

Sunflower oil

Go to the doctors for a cream prescription (typically a non fragranced hydrator, free of irritants which would be suitable for eczema and other dry/irritated skin conditions)

Or pick up a dry skin/eczema suitable product (like e45) from boots. You can try eye creams too, I like the Kiehl’s one in the purple bottle but it’s pricy.
