I got my acceptance letter for my British Citizenship (HOORAY!!)
I have to go to a swearing in ceremony. I want to look really nice as it's a big deal for me. I have about £100 to spend on an outfit and shoes. BUT if i could get a pair of shoes that would do for regular use that would be better.

Here's the details:

I'm 5'8", size 12/14 on the bottom, 14/16 on top. fairly good sized norks (DD). dark brown hair.
I love greens, browns and some blues. and i'd like a dress or skirt.

can you help me? or should i just go out and find a nice sack to wear?

Similar to the first one

purplemonkeydishwasher · 16/04/2007 08:59

Where is your ceremony being held and are you going out after?

purplemonkeydishwasher · 16/04/2007 09:25

Sorry to hijack your thread, monkey. Congrats first of all!! I am considering applying aswell, am a German living in the UK with a british husband and two children. What was the process you had to go through?
Cat me if you want!

Have fun at the ceremony! I'm sure the ladies here will find you something gorgeous to wear!

Nbg · 16/04/2007 09:30

Oh well then, the M&S one wont be too much then.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 16/04/2007 09:33

michaelad - i assume you have indefinite leave to remain? if so you have to write the life in the UK test, then send in your application.
if not, then you need to get your indefinite leave to remain first. and you have to live here for 3 years. It;s a HUGE PITA but worth it#!

OP posts:
michaelad · 16/04/2007 09:37

Indefinite leave to remain?? Errm..do I? No one's ever asked me that before. I just assumed because I'm from a EU country and am now married to someone British and the children were both born here, that I can stay!
Got a link for the Life in the UK test? Is it difficult?

purplemonkeydishwasher · 16/04/2007 09:41

oh right! EU! i'm canadian so it's a different process.
nationality info

LaCerbiatta · 16/04/2007 10:57

Sorry about the hyjack again. Michaelad, if you are German you can't apply for british citizenship because you can't get an official indefinite leave to remain because you automatically have that, being from an EC country. I wanted my dd to have a british passport but because both me and dh are from an EC country she can't. Even though she was born here and dh has been living here for over 12 years and me for 9.... Silly, isn't it?

michaelad · 16/04/2007 11:52

Really, both my sons have british passports! And I have just been told by the German embassy that they can (and actually should) have German passports too!

Who told you this??

michaelad · 16/04/2007 11:53

Let me just open another thread, so we can stay out of this one!

michaelad · 16/04/2007 11:56

just have...it's in the language and bilingualism topic and is called "dual citizenship"

purplemonkeydishwasher · 16/04/2007 16:33

went uptown. realized (again) that falkirk is not the fashion capital of scotland. yikes.
tried on three dresses. a world of no for all three. although i think i've figured out that i like the wrap over style top. but most of them have floaty type skirts that make me look big in the bottom. and i;m not.
