would they make me look like I am still pregnant even though DS3 was born 2 months ago?

errm how do you look generally?

if you have a big bosom go for empire line. if not then scoop neck with small gathers and make sure it doesn't end on your widest point.

KnayedFrot · 14/04/2007 20:33

No, because you can;t tell if someone wearing a smock has a washboard under there or a slight pod

That's the beauty of them imo, and i have several.

Tommy · 14/04/2007 20:36

generally I look OK (I think ) - normally a size 12 but post baby am in a size 16 trousers and have enormous norks. Tummy is just flabby but has gone down quite a lot - nothing that a few hundred sit ups won't remedy

I disagree with the can't tell if you have a washboard or a slight paunch under a smock

I think unless you are extremely thin with small breasts a smock top will make you look matronly

some fashion (if not most fashion) are best left to 14 year old pre-pubescents or those poor deluded fools who feel that size 0 is something to aspire to

who wants to be a clothes horse?

in summation Tommy .. avoid like the plague

mrsflowerpot · 15/04/2007 09:33

Don't do it if you have big norks. I spent a very depressing morning last week trying on tops and looking progressively more pregnant in them. I am short and norky and there is nothing out there for me this season - tunics out too.

I was telling dh about it afterwards and he said 'oh are they fashionable then?' he had been out on a business lunch and someone they hadn't seen for a while was wearing one and they all talked for ages afterwards about whether she was pregnant.

Tommy · 15/04/2007 14:23

thanks all for your honesty and good advice!

Can anyone please tell me what sort of tops I could wear then? Currently wearing polo shirts and plain T shirts I bought after D1 was born (5 years ago) and feel decidedly frumpy and also need something smarter to wear for DS3's baptism in a few weeks

Thanks

Not that I'm an expert on fashion, but I do have ample norkage, and a "generous" tummy, and I find that wrapover-type tops are good, particularly if they are patterned. In fact, only if they are patterned...

never tried a wrap top except a maternity one which was lovely actually although that one would make me look pregnant of course.....

will check them out
